Sheila E's sassy lyrics

If you listen to Sheila E's four pop albums ('The Glamorous Life','Romance 1600','Sheila E' and 'Sex Cymbal'),you will notice that the lyrics are often sexy, sassy and sometimes downright humorous.I don't know how much input she had in writing these songs, but the lyrics are really impressive.Rememeber these memorable lines?...

***"Let me take your ticket,I'll show you where to stick it"

***"If you lost my number, that's a story to be told...the candle burns at both ends baby, when niggas get too bold"

***"It's second nature for men to be bad,and for you that's okay...but if a girl wants a little romance, you say she's just an easy lay"

***"Every cheerleader in senior class really really hated my yellow pants...maybe it was the way they hugged my ass"

***"Funny when our eyes met,the walls around me turned wet"

***"sometimes I wanna beat you up!---is that what you want me to do?"

***"light-skinned boys think they're so bad,they drink Evian,listen to jazz...at home they like symphonies,but when they're at the club,it's Sheila E"

Back in '87 I was kinda shocked when I heard this. SHeila always seemed too classy to go around spouting "nigga" so easily... granted this was way before every other hip hop artist and white boys were going around using this word so fliply.

Figured it was something Prince threw in.

She did have great lyrics though. Not to mention her funk!

from which song does this come?

***"If you lost my number, that's a story to be told...the candle burns at both ends baby, when niggas get too bold"

i was surprised at that lyric as well. LOVE the song!

***"It's second nature for men to be bad,and for you that's okay...but if a girl wants a little romance, you say she's just an easy lay"

not a fan of Funky Attitude

***"Every cheerleader in senior class really really hated my yellow pants...maybe it was the way they hugged my ass"

...she's younger but her chest is bigger than mine...

***"Funny when our eyes met,the walls around me turned wet"

THIS IS FUN!!! (2nd to 'A Love Bizarre' as a Sheila fave of mine)

***"sometimes I wanna beat you up!---is that what you want me to do?"

***"light-skinned boys think they're so bad,they drink Evian,listen to jazz...at home they like symphonies,but when they're at the club,it's Sheila E"

I'm also curious how much lyrical input she had in her Prince produced work. I've always assumed that he did it all.
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark

It's from her 1987 song "Love On A Blue Train" from her self-titled album.
