My The Time Greatest Hits MD

So here is my list of fave The Time songs. There are stricly personal. I am not really happy with the exclusion of Jerk Out, as it is a groovy song, but the intro is segued and fucked (I think). And Tricky needs to be included too, but this is 72 minutes on a 74 minutes MiniDisc...so.

777-9311
Release It
Oh Baby
Wild And Loose
The Stick
Gigolos Get Lonely Too
My Drawers
The Bird
Chocolate
Cool
Jungle Love

It is not done yet. With some editing I can win some minutes and put a kewl version of Tricky, when and if I find it.

Also, remember that on the album 777-9311 is boldly segued out of another song? I edited that and made it sound right. How? Just adding one singel computer beat. If I ever get a computer I will make it available so you can all hear this intro. Just one computer beat makes a HUGE difference...

I even doubted Chocolate, cuz knowing the Prince version is knowing perfection, so no Databank, Blondie is irritating (rather hear My Drawers!)
And Shake? Naaa.

I chose three songs from each album, except that last album, that sounded too 90's to me. A too big departure from the sound that made them kewl.
With Prince that was okay, with one album every year, but with that last Time album Prince and Morris made a little missjudgement.

No "Get it Up?" That, along with "Cool", have got to be my all time fave joints of theirs.

Ah, but you need a computer for that (I only internet at work; shhh)

ANd MD offers me more than MP3 at the moment. If I will buy a computer, it will be an Apple and I will have an I-pod.

It was a hard choice. But the other three picks from the first album to me mean more than Get It Up. And you cannot have an entire album on a Greatest Hits.
I kind of picked three of each and feel anxious about editing any of the full play length, as that is what I like about the songs of The Time.
And Get It Up was covered too often. So Cool, Oh Baby and The Stick.

Dude where's "The Walk"? That is the one definitive Minneapolis bass line.

They blew away Prince in terms of performance during the 1999 tour, IMO.

Hehehe.
I was in doubt over that one. But I had 74 minutes. And The Walk is great, but to me not as great as any other of that album that is featured here.

Like I said; I picked about three of each album, otherwise I could just as well put on an album, right?

You can have the rest, but I'm sorry: You have to find a way to get Jerk Out on there. It's a gem on an otherwise average album that desrves to be there on its own merits. Find a way, dammit!

Cool! Another Prince MiniDisc user!

Hey, get a MDLP (MiniDisc Long Play) compatible recorder and you can double the disc time!

I'm getting ready to make mean album MD's with singles and b-sides, long versions with custom covers for my archives. I just want to consolidate all the jams that pertain to an album into one MD.

Cool project.

You need the unreleased Grace (777-9311 alternate version) mixed in with the album 777-9311 and the Love Machine outtake blooper voice track...!

I made a Time Greatest Hits a couple of years ago. I had to edot alot, to fit more songs on, but the edits are "power edits", not fades out. Example, my wild and loose could NOT lose "Fellas, what time is it! Time to get wild and loose!". So the middle section went. Tracks as follows:

1. Wild & Loose (edit)
2. Chocolate (Edit)
3. Cool (Edit)
4. Jungle Love
5. Girl
6. Grace
7. Jerk Out (Edit)
8. Latest Fashion (Original version)
9. 7779311 (edit)
10. The Bird (edit)
11. The Walk (edit)
12. Shake
13. Murph Drag
14. The Stick (edit)
15. Release It
16. Fishnets (The time, but in name!)
17. Corporate World
18 Chilli Sauce!
.

Where is Grace? This B side helped define the Morris Day persona more than any album cut. And its funny as hell
