Watched pt. 1 of this and I've enjoyed the Truth in Rhythm podacst for sometime. The host has had some really great interviews/conversations and I've always liked his "conversational" style of doing his episodes- puts the artists a ease while making them feel appreciated but also encourages them to drop some anecdotes and knowledge. Sly Stone fans should check out the one that he did with Rustee Allen along with all of the other Prince-associated artists over the years.

*

I found this one interesting as it was with a "protege" instead of a band member so the perspective and stories were different. JJ's still salty over how everything went down but seemes to accept that she's also bears some blame for why her Prince-career didn't turn out the way that she wanted.

I'm glad that she's come to terms with the fact that she's a flop.

I think that Jill was a great talent and a person who gave a lot to Prince--her voice is all over those 1980s albums. She should have signed elsewhere to have a more prominent career in the biz when she had the chance but just unluckily got herself caught up in Prniceworld, unfortunately.

I like her honest descriptions and the way that she balanced herself out after all the PP mess way back when, and I look forward to one day collecting her elusive debut album. Fosho will check out her recordings being published in the current era. cool

This was one of the most depressing interviews i’ve seen so far. It was not fun to watch. She needs to get away from the Prince community and continue to heal as it seemed she was doing before Prince passed away.

So true.I wonder how things would have worked out if she had tried a career at Motown, with Teena Marie and Rick James guiding/producing her.In the Prince camp,it always seemed like she wasn't a priority even though she (unlike some of the other female proteges) could actually sing.
