Mariah talks Prince in her new memoir

I just read Mariah’s new memoir,‘The Meaning of Mariah Carey’, and in the chapter titled ‘A Little Bit About a Few Good Men’, she highlights Karl Lagerfeld, Nelson Mandela, Muhammad Ali, Stevie Wonder, and Prince. She says Prince came to her aid in tough times more than once. He defended her as an artist when industry execs questioned her musical choices. Prince also told her he loved her song, ‘Honey’ (“Oh! My! God!”). They would always chat when they bumped into each other at clubs or casual meetings at parties, and she says he was always very giving with his time; one night he stayed up all night with her and Jermaine Dupri talking about the state of the music industry. She always dreamed of writing a song with him, especially a ‘Purple Rain’-type ballad duet that she says she knows would’ve been ‘pretty perfect’. He invited her to Paisley Park and she showed him her lyrics for a new song, on which she wanted to sample Vanity 6’s ‘Nasty Girl’. Prince said, ‘That’s Vanity’s song.’ He asked her why she couldn’t be ‘inspired’ by it instead. She said he wasn’t being shady, he was being protective and instructive. The lesson learned was to protect your ideas and your music. He told her to finish that song and they’d work on a new one, but they never did. She says he called her often during her ‘Glitter’ crisis, and credits him with helping to save her on a soul level. She listened to his music almost daily and her kids know all his songs (the G-rated ones).

That's a cool story, and it's good Prince's music lives on with her kids.

I also read about it in her book. What stood out to me was that he gave her a bible

Prince and Mariah were in harmony astrologically:

Aries - Gemini Sun Signs, Mariah's Rising Sign is Cancer, Scorpio Moon, Mars Aries, Venus Taurus, etc.
