BrownMark playing bass with Steve Ray Vaughn and Stevie Wonder on MTV...

...way back in 87 or so.

Anyone ever catch that?

I don't know what special it was for but it was in studio and Stevie Wonder was playing a keyboard syth and Stevie Ray Vaughn was tearing it up on guitar and curiously, Salt & Peppa and their producer were there too! They were all jamming!

It was a great performance, I remember it clearly. BrownMark was also tearing it up on bass! He played a white bass with black gloves! Funky as hell!

Maybe it was just an impromptu thing? Who know?

If you've got info to share, please do!

I remember they did Superstition and Brownmark TORE it up. I don't know what it was from but I do have it taped.
Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

I remember that special well - back in the day when MTV actually produced shows that featured people playing instruments...The show was a one-hour special featuring songs from Stevie's album "Characters" (if I remember it correctly). Stevie Ray did a song with Stevie earlier in the show and he tore it up on his Strat. Later, he, Brown Mark, Jody Watley, and Salt and Pepa (along with Spinderella) did a cool version of "Superstition". That was my introduction to Stevie Ray - I just remember thinking how funky he was! Brown Mark funked it up, too!

Wish I still had a copy of the tape...(I do have the song on CD, though)

Yeah! Stevie Ray had FUNK in his blood! He did some awesome playing, his body movements, his face grimacing, and BrownMark was feeding of that Funk!

Thanks for the info JesseDezz and WonderU, didn't know it was part of a whole special. I did record just that one performance.

I gotta do a thread on Stevie Ray Vaughn soon. People forget. Here's a fact, Steve played that great solo on David Bowie's China girl!
