Brownmark showing why Prince hired him The Revolution should've been the house band at the Tribute since 98% of the tunes played were songs they helped make iconic

If you listen to Prince rehearsals 83' - 86' Brown Mark (behind Prince) is the best player in the room. Lisa has an amazing feel but Mark's rumble bass defined Prince's rhythm attack in that period. He was funky! |

Agreed. The Revolution SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE BACKING BAND....PERIOD. Dez and Andre could have also been included to take turns with Mark and Wendy.
*
Mark is an incredible bass player. As Prince stated in '86 - if Mark weren't in his band he would remove bass from his songs. He can also still dance and move. |

Brownmark should also be taking vocals more often. When he takes the lead you realize how familiar his voice is... He's the one who backed up and harmonized with Prince for years. It's not a strong voice, but the tone is just right for those songs. You can't see The Revolution these days without spending time focusing on Brownmark and really appreciating him.
He also gets it, he's up there doing the same moves, just trying to replicate what Prince taught him.
I'd love to see Brownmark, Andre, Dez, and maybe Jesse, all together. |

The Revolution(whom
I've seen live a few times since Prince(r.i.p.) transtioned)NEVER includes Andre(whom i've seen countless times in the past few years & easily stole the spotlight from them live in Minneapolis) anymore in ANY of their live performances.
But Brown Mark does stand out in the live shows more than any other member with his charisma, showmanship & and all around performance and is not a CHATTERBOX!

Oh please!!!! Grow up. EVERY member of The Revolution are great - that's why they are a good band. Wendy is smart, funny, and actually has interesting and legitimate things to say if you'd actually listen. She's far from a "chatterbox".
*
You do know that Andre is friends with the band, right? Suannah recently posted a pic of her and Manuela with Andre's wife. So, I seriously doubt they are not inviting him to play. Then again, the songs that they do play are those performed long after Andre left the band. It would be great for him and Dez to do some Dirty Mind/Controversy songs though. |

Kind of agree. I can't stand seeing Wendy frontlining The Revolution. There's no soul. I loved her and Lisa when they were young (and Lisa up to today) but really I've seen and heard enough Wendy for the rest of the days. And i even didn't start about those glasses.

Pictures are just pictures. Apples took a picture with Sheila E also. Doesn't mean anything.
Sorry, but no. They are all friendly. You'll have to provide proof that The Revolution refuse to play with Andre and/or Dez rather than just your arm chair soap opera talk. |

I don't do "arm chair soap opera talk" I speak FACT & TRUTH! Andre was NEVER asked to join The Revolution on their tour instead they opted for Stokely(whom did an excellent job). But so would Andre.
You have no idea whether Andre was asked or not. It’s quite possible that he could not or did not want to do the tour. You are just assuming the reason. Unless there is a Q&A asking that specific question to Andre then it should not be assumed that The Revolution don’t want him playing with them. Unnecessary gossip. |

Well her NUMBER ONE fan doesn't feel that way Wendy can do no wrong in their eyes. They should start a fan club in her honor. Lisa is actually my favorite Revolution member her haunting chords have always enticed me. I've always loved her.

Really??? Wow. By all accounts she killed the PR solo during that show. No question it was her chemistry with Prince that worked so well, but that can be said for all of the various bands Prince had. She's an awesome guitar player, and she can be funky but also ethereal when she plays. Have you listened to White Flags of Winter Chimneys (2008)?? If not, look it up on YT. Wendy sounds fantastic on many of the songs. Prince loved the way she played. |

I will give you that, but that's not what i wrote about. She's part of the Revolution, of course, but not the leader on stage. Or shouldn't be. She sings everything flat and has a air of "what i'm even doing her" - She performs almost as if she's in a Prince cover-band instead of in the real deal. As if she's embarrased to stand on that spot. She's no Prince and she knows it, thus she's afraid to do anything beyond 'quickly do her lines'. |

Or, most likely it is what she’s stated multiple times, which is that neither she nor the other band members are trying to take Prince’s place on stage, because they know they cannot do that. She has stated during the band’s touring shows that they want the fans to “be Prince” and help the band sing for him. * I look at it as her being humble and not trying to take the spotlight, as many think Sheila is doing. Wendy was also never the “exhibitionist” on stage. Her more serious and sophisticated persona mixed well with Prince’s playful sexuality on stage. That's why it worked so well. It’s portrayed perfectly in the Kiss video, with Prince doing his uber sexual thing next to Wendy and she smirks, turns away and rolls her eyes. All part of the chemistry between them and also the rest of the band. It was a perfect mix. |

That's why The Revolution adding Stokely(from Mint Condition) as leader of the vocals was an excellent idea! When I last saw them live in December 2019. His renditon of "Uptown" floored me. He was an awesome, charismatic MUCH NEEDED leader. So was Andre when they BRIEFLY had him as leader for ONE TIME. Andre's stage presence outshined the WHOLE band. I feel the roles that Prince(r.i.p.) put each of the band members in should stay intact.
Some people just aren't meant to be leaders of a band. As U said "shouldn't be". I guess the idea is that they both have at one time been leads and can carry a group.
I don't think Stokely can carry the Revolution aside from a few songs where he really fits. His stage dmeanor is a little too goofy and karaoke too. Not sure about Andre but seeing Prince's spiritual brother on stage is pretty special and he'd be my first choice. Must trigger a lot of emotions for him though, and I can't picture him wanting to step in full time and lead the Revolution on a full tour. There's an interview where he talks about taking his kids (I think?) to LA shows and wanting them to see the greatest performer who ever lived... not his childhood friend, or his former bandmate...so I think Andre is an interesting guy. I hope they keep inviting him as much as possible though.
Wendy handled it right and if she looked reluctant, it's because she's had enough time away to see it from the fans perspective too and because she knew there would be criticism. I get some of it, people don't want anyone up front from the band, but if they just came out and played without engaging, that would be weird too. The approach that they're doing it to heal and be together with the fans and celebrate the musc and stories is very generous. Yeah they're not wearing the Paisley, or trying to pose like rock stars now, which is pretty amazing really that they don't feel the pressure to do that.
The show is sort of presented like they know they're giving imperfect renditions but with the original sounds and flavor only they can do. It made people happy as hell when I saw them. |
