On the Musicology Tour (2004) stop in Seattle, I heard Him CLEAR AS DAY say into the Mic "Come on John (Blackwell)....STAY ON THE GROOVE!" 20,000 plus People in attendance. WOW!!!! Next time I saw Prince (Welcome 2 America Tour 2011 @ Tacoma Dome in Tacoma WA), Blackwell had an extra Kick Drum, MO' Groove & LESS Drumline tricks!! And He STILL had the Gig!! R.I.P. John Blackwell & R.I.P. Prince Rogers Nelson. U R BOTH MISSED DEARLY!!!!

At the Portugal 7/18/2010 show, bass player Josh Dunham missed a chord change during "U Got the Look" and the look on Prince's face cracks me up every time.

Not directly about bands making mistakes, but something I did hear from a friend in Chicago who attended tons of the paisley shows and had friends in and about was that Prince quickly assembled the Jam Of The Year tour, originally it was to cover more of the Emancipation record but since Prince played almost everything on the record he could not get it going, and also this is why quite a bit of the promoting for the record the BAND was not live he was in most cases but not all. it's funny you mentioned this cause it happened often and usually on that song. during the end chant (are you hot?) when he tells them to drop out the bass then he brings it back. they often missed the cue to either stop or bring it back so he'd stop on the one. we know and can point out all these things but the average concert goer would never lol

Still wondering about someone he fired for a poor performance. A female keyboard player around the musicology period? I must have a dodgy memory but im sure i read about it on here. Forgetting cues is not the worst mistake to make but hitting the wrong notes is very noticeable.
