At the Portugal 7/18/2010 show, bass player Josh Dunham missed a chord change during "U Got the Look" and the look on Prince's face cracks me up every time.

During one of the "Welcome to America" shows - can't remember which one - the background singers were supposed to keep the chorus of "Cool" going but missed their cue. Prince didn't miss a beat though. He called for a stop on the 1 and filled in perfectly. Unless you really knew the song and what they were doing, you'd have had no idea of the mistake. It's probably the best example of Prince's professionalism and total badassery that I know of.

Not directly about bands making mistakes, but something I did hear from a friend in Chicago who attended tons of the paisley shows and had friends in and about was that Prince quickly assembled the Jam Of The Year tour, originally it was to cover more of the Emancipation record but since Prince played almost everything on the record he could not get it going, and also this is why quite a bit of the promoting for the record the BAND was not live he was in most cases but not all.

it's funny you mentioned this cause it happened often and usually on that song. during the end chant (are you hot?) when he tells them to drop out the bass then he brings it back. they often missed the cue to either stop or bring it back so he'd stop on the one. we know and can point out all these things but the average concert goer would never lol

Still wondering about someone he fired for a poor performance. A female keyboard player around the musicology period? I must have a dodgy memory but im sure i read about it on here.
Forgetting cues is not the worst mistake to make but hitting the wrong notes is very noticeable.
