International Lover (Take 1) out now International Lover (Take 1) from 1999 Deluxe is out now. Source says it is from an official release by Tidal. I have not confirmed that this is on Tidal, just repeating what I was told.
Listening now. Sounds amazing! Just confirmed that it is indeed on Tidal.
Right here:
https://tidal.com/browse/.../119484676
I would assume that it is official, although I think some unofficial stuff pops up on Tidal from time to time, so who knows.

To me I could see this as the guide vocal for Morris. I could imagine when he decided to keep it for himself he probably decided to go full power with a falsetto vocal take instead, but I welcome any thoughts/citations to the contrary.

Listened to this track. Both this and the album release are real and they are spectacular.

This is great! That line where he says "Peggy, are you listening" is classic Prince!

Not quite what I expected. I thought this would be a more serious take on the song, something like the piano and a mic 1983 version but more flushed out. Instead this is more humorous than the original imo and certainly looser. I like it, but in a completely different when than I thought I would. Odd choice for a single, but I guess it’s something to excite the dedicated fans. . I agree this might be a guide vocal version for Morris before Prince decided to keep it. Just speculation. That must be Morris on the drums, certainly sounds like his playing plus the directions from Prince at the end kind of remind me of bacon skin. . A lot of little funny moments in there. . I’ve listened to it like four times already. Gotta fall asleep soon, but I’m enjoying this too much. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

I really, really like this version. There is a part that reminds me a lot of the breakdown in "Temptation" Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Was never a huge fan of the original recording on 1999, a bit thin-sounding and overwrought vocal. This is more laid-back and sounds much warmer. Prince's piano playing is stunning and Morris on the drums is always going to be awesome. It's still a pretty weak song IMO, but an enjoyable release neverthless. PIPS! Eurgh...

Pure bliss. For a lot of people this would be a damn showcase. For Prince, it's clutter in the closet.
