Yes, Violet, I read your post. I just don't agree. I don't believe his response, no matter what era he is from or that it was in regards to someone famous who didn't like being confronted, was appropriate for a person who said he saw P as his "little brother", and acted as a mentor and spiritual advisor. We'll have to agree to disagree. There is too much evidence showing he did not act in a way that is consistent with what is expected of a big brother, mentor, or spiritual advisor.

I hear what you are saying. All I am stating is that Prince didn’t really let people “in” - girlfriends, wives, friends or “religious mentors”. Mayte even stated she was never able to call him directly. She had to page him and he would call her back on his time. That is just an absurd dynamic in a marriage. There were no “normal” relationships with Prince.

Prince(r.i.p.) WAS NOT a normal person. He was an angel not of this earth. To compare him to a mortal human being is a waste of time. He WAS NOT a mortal creature subject to the whims of nature.’

lol lol lol Oh Choco, you definitely keep it entertaining here. I SO get a kick out of your posts biggrin

His relationships would not have been normal due to his fame anyway. I've known a few & it's not at all the same.
And yes the not being able to call is weird, though Mayte did state she had all the numbers once they were married there was a door that she could not pass through unless he let her. That's actually true with all people - we only show what we want people to see.
I still say Larry did not act like a big brother, friend, or mentor to him.

The consistent description of having any kind of relationship with Prince was that it was one-sided in terms of Prince calling the shots. They all - friends, associates, girlfriends and wives treaded lightly and he controlled the dynamic. There was not a laid-back and comfortable environment. All have stated they never knew “who” they were going to get from day to day or even hour to hour.

He had issues with relationships. He could not let his guard down. He knew it. It was not tied to being famous.
*
And in the interview that I read Mayte stated she could never call Prince directly - even during the marriage. Interestingly, he played that out in the video for I Betcha By Golly Wow - he was at a gas station and pulled out his Beeper which showed “Call Your Wife” on the display.

So you're saying all of the above means it's ok LG said what he did to Mani? Not buying it.
If you love someone, you say something whether they're going to like it or not.
I don't want to keep talking about Mayte ss this thread is about Larry. I will say she states in her book, more than once, that she spoke up.
And yes, his fame did have something to do with it. Plenty of people, including a recent interview with Morris Day, have stated he changed with fsme, becoming harder to get a hold of, talk to, etc.
Yes, he was a gifted, unique person, but he was not God or perfect and imho needed people around him that had enough love for him to say something instead of those who were more concerned with themselves & their position in his life.
The kind of love that takes over your body, mind, & soul

Did you even bother to read my post?? I stated that he could have responded in a gentler way. However, we also do not know the dynamic between Mani and Larry - how close they were or whether they even got along. It’s just so ridiculous for any of us to judge Larry or anyone in his camp, because NONE of us were there. All of us handle situations differently too.

Well here’s the thing. A spiritual advisor can and does share with you but they’re not your God. So Larry was limited in what he could do.
I am sure he and Prince shared about absolutely everything in life. But he couldn’t control Prince. That wasn’t his job.
It does seem to me though that if M2 went to Larry (she’s always got her nose in something), maybe Larry was fending her off.
For all we know he did talk with Prince about his pain problems (probably did, or vice versa), and once Prince made his decision on how to handle it, there was nothing LARRY could do but support him in whatever decision he made and he the best friend he could to him.

I am not excusing Larry if he wasn’t open enough because of his own wants and needs. It’s just that Prince had to decide for himself how to deal with the issue.
