It's not a bad interview, it feels like a 'release' it also feels almost like this just happened last month or last week. Like the emotions are still in 1982-1989 I know it has to be exhausting.
I'm always about male interviewers who like to bring up the W1 vs W2 issues. This is the stuff that is really tiring for me.

Has he been abusive to me? Yes. But Prince used to give me these incredible gifts. Just after doing something horrible. When he offered me a car after "Purple Rain" I always wondered what was going to happen, what will fall on my head, which shoe will fly in the air. What will he ask me or do me in exchange? When you loved Prince, it had a cost. Everything had a cost. And you had to be ready to give everything, even your fucking dignity. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just human relations, and we all want a guy like Prince in our lives. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

On her FB prior she did say something about him breaking her arm And prior to 2016 when that Sinead OConnor piece came out about Prince (and I believe Arsenio Hall), Jill Jones co-signed it with some details. But she then deleted them later. . I can see Prince throwing a shoe though, I don't know why I can see that.

So Prince was like Ike Turner? I mean this is contradictory to Prince praising/respecting women. I am at a loss for words on this.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Nothing is confirmed,
But even if, it would be nothing like Ike Turner, not even remotely close to that
Didn't Prince & Morris get into a fist fight in 1983?
And he and Miko almost came to blows in 1990

Hopefully the uber-woke spaces of the internet don't catch onto any hints about abuse. Prince's legacy could easily be rewritten into that of a statutory rapist who slept with underage girls and violated women emotionally and physically.
The press are a bunch of vultures - it's depressing.
[Edited 6/13/19 14:16pm] A certain kind of mellow.

I know, and Ike & Tina were married, Prince wasn't married to Jill or Sinead(nor dated her) who Jill cosigned. And we don't know what time this allegedly happened nor if it was a time they were actually 'boyfriend/girlfriend'.
He doesn't have to be in a romantic situation to respond by throwing a shoe though.
But nothing outside of Morris that I know of exhibited him being violent toward anyone, especially his 'lovers'

sad to think that he could be physically abusive. I think we are all more than aware that he was physcologically abusive to many who worked with him, lovers etc. Only a matter of time before more gets out I guess?

I know this isn't new news, but I had no idea she is Berry Gordy's step-niece.

I doubt there will be more. Jill still hasn't come out with it. If she was more direct about it, the way she goes after Susannah, maybe. And no details. Was it the result of an accident. Was she fighting Prince etc And the Sinead OConner stuff I don't trust. No one else has ever said anything about him being physically violent toward them.

I bet if JJ was to tell all, we'd be flabbergasted. She probably hasn't attempted to skim the surface, she was in his camp for years, you know she's got stories that haven't been told.

I don't think I would be 'flabbergasted' I know she was in the camp for years. But a lot of those years were also spent away from Prince in Europe, as she talks about in a few of these interviews. And those periods are partially why she and Prince went their seperate ways. I mean in a lot of ways, I'm glad she had that time, to break from what 'was not' happening for her in the Prince camp and relationship. . She grew outside the box. . I think if there is much more 'wow' we would have heard it from others who were also there for just as many years. And I think hearing more would fall under 'smear'. What would really be the purpose outside of that. . When Prince talked about having Big Chick toss Vanity in the pool(something a lot of people do at the pool) some people were shocked to hear that. I wasn't. Look what happened to Jesse during the food fight. That was probably more 'shocking' but at the same time, when young guy get to going at it, it's not so 'shocking' Jesse was just more affect by being handcuffed and taunted. . I don't think I really want to hear more 'stories'. Especially about any sexual escapades. Her husband(the man who actually put her first and married her) doesn't need any more of that.

Yes, he said something about all the 'extra' of that show.
Don't get me wrong, I love 'Princed out Prince' I was so tired of the conservative look, the suites etc And I'm not saying I'm agreeing with Alan, I would never want to see Prince 'regular' jeans and a tshirt with his guitar. That's not Prince, but when I first saw the show, after hearing AOA, I did think it might have been a little much, in the shows presentation. If it was a Prince concert or at Paisley Park/First Avenue it woulld have been different.

sadly I still feel that 'unrequited' vibe. I'm glad she was able to break away when she did. But she does care for Prince. Too bad it took Vanities death 30yr later for these two 'deep' souls to bury the hatchet.

This is the hard part. You do get it that some people like that kind of stuff??? From her other remarks she may be one of those people; someone that needs that extra harshness to push themselves further. I am not here to tell people what is right or wrong, but definitely Prince was very attractive to women who often likeed to be told what to wear, how to do their hair, etc. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
