Anxious to read it, but that cover is below amateurish. It's cheap. At least 4 fonts, 3 colors, 2 titles, and 1 off-centered photo. For someone who is normally C-O-O-L, that cover is a hot mess.

Those are mysteries because all members tell different stories all the time. If you read and watch interviews from back then, they contradict themselves all the time.

I am also looking forward to reading this but wish some of these associates and their writers would give these books more care - and honesty.

The description is a little extreme and obviously trying to "sell"...

And that's not necessary.

Just be humble, honest, decent and straight-forward about the association.

No need to sell us on anything. We already KNOW the nature of the friendship.

IOW, don't insult our intelligence or think about trying to make things appear a certain way to GO DOWN IN HISTORY.

And make sure everything's grammatically correct!

I've self-published two books, and while they aren't high-art covers by a professional artist, they sure to fuck look better than this one. It looks like someone put it together in MS Paint on Windows 95.

I don't mind "On Time" so much, the subtitle is ridiculous, and visually just floats out there on its own. I do think he could have picked better titles. Being Cool, Ain't Nobody Bad Like Me, but really - What Time Is It? seems appropriate. You can't copyright a song title so he could have chosen anything. ANYTHING.

I feel like I need to brace myself for grammar and spelling errors. I'm not saying Day is illiterate or stupid. He's certainly not. I love Morris. But I'm going to judge a book by its cover and think - if it's that bad at the start, I'm going to be white-knuckling it while reading. But I will be reading it.

I look forward to reading this. But I agree with the previous opinions on the cover art.

I know, and it remains true for more recent interviews. Though I don't think they ever addressed the second point anyway.

CW was definitely Morris and Jerome only, and I wonder what was planned for promo, surely they needed a mock-up band, or it would have been promoted as Morris' third solo album.

You can't finish something that was barely started when the person writing the AUTObiography passes away. Unless there are diaries, journals, and/or hours and hours of taped recordings from the deceased person for a ghostwriter to work with.

Interesting. Funny, I don't think Jerome ever appeared on a single album vocally previously.

Based on how it looks, I understand your concern but to see that Dave Ritz is the actual author gives me hope and makes me care less about the cover....which looks as if it´s been inspired by the Ice Cream Castles album cover artwork.

A princely life in funk is the real turn-off on the cover for me. I know it´s probably not his intention and maybe it´s smart from a business point of view but that just sounds like they are trying to milk the Prince connection and I´m suprised to see Dave´s name under such a corny sounding title.

I own Dave Ritz´s fantastic Marvin Gay biography "Divided Soul" and think he´s a good music journalist. His articles are often very enjoyable.
