I see that he wrote that he loved her and to please write. Thanks for posting it. Yes, that card has been posted for awhile. So sweet, and very telling I think. [Edited 1/4/19 11:07am]

Not to be knockin Susannah....but she reached out to him for money and he gave her a LOAN, it is in the Estate papers, and they were working on getting that money back from her. Don't know if they did or not, but he didn't reach out to her to help her financially and he didn't just give her the money free. I'm not sure what the date/year was that Prince loaned Susannah money, however, Wendy stated that 6 months before he passed he called her to get Susannah's phone number. So, regardless of the details on the financial side of things he waa trying to resume contact/communication with her not long before his death. This coincides with her discussion about his Engineer calling her on Prince's behalf to send her his song lyrics.

She did mention Forever In My Life, after Come Home

yeah, I probably tried to keep that under his foot. There was a 2000s period interview where he talked about having gained a little weight. You can see it around the ALMA award show and a few others at that period. I little stomach pouch.

I was not connected to the people that were at Paisley Park (in the media photos) when he passed, outside of Sheila E. So knowing that all of those people were there but not allowed access pisses me off a bit.

I saw him in concert last for Welcome 2 Canada. Susannah said it was the orange jumpsuit and award show standing ovation where she noticed his FACE looking thinner than ever.

But let's not try to change the narrative to P reached out to her to give her money, like you did in your post, because from the paperwork, that's not true....
He may have reached out to her for other things, and just because somebody gave him her number doesn't even mean they connected.

He was looking very good and healthy for those shows too. I watched show 2 of Toronto last night and I noticed he was very filled out. Amazing show as well! I was thinking he wore the orange suit at the Grammys in 2015 and the yellow tunic with the moon phases for the AMA's in November 2015 when he came out with the guitar. His face was looking very thin then. At the Grammys,I thought his face looked a bit more filled out.

he was looking thinner around this time forward though. It could easily be bigger clothing. 2009(LotusFlow3r era) he was looking thin and a bit unhealthy too...to me.

Yeah it stood out to me aroundd this time. It could be his sleep habits taking affect. He was a night person, and that works against the human body.

Yeah,no doubt he was thinner than say 2013. He appeared to start losing weight in the summer of 2014 and then it looked like it would fluctuate but he was never full again like 2011 and '12. He doesn't look as thin here to me as he did at the end of 2015 at The AMA's,at least in the face and he was even thinner by the time of the NYE show in St. Barts. I thought he looked extremely thin and gaunt during the Lotusflow3r period too. Especially at Montreux. I saw the clip from him at the Grammys in 2015 earlier and when he came out he didn't look too happy and like he was hobbling a bit. He looked like he may have possibly been in pain to me. so Empty Room was recorded on Bobby Z and Vickies wedding day?
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yes - this was written in Matt Thorne's Biography as well. Crazy that they all had to go to the warehouse to record on the day of the wedding. Prime example of the "never or rarely a day off" situation that so many associates/band members have discussed over the years.

Yes - I posted right after the one above that I had missed the tail end of the interview where she mentions those two songs.

He may have reached out to her for other things, and just because somebody gave him her number doesn't even mean they connected. * Violetcrush said: Not trying to change the narrative. Susannah stated that Prince had heard that she was really struggling, and he offered to help her. It's also possible that Bobby Z, Paul Peterson, or someone from the old camp contacted Prince on her behalf regarding monetary help. I don't see Susannah personally trying to contact him to ask him for help. They had not spoken in several years due to their feud over the issues with the fDeluxe record, so I would think she would not have expected him to help her at that time. * Susannah specifically stated during this interview that Prince's Engineer called her after the Moline incident to tell her that Prince wanted to record with her again, and he was sending her lyrics to review. She stated that the Engineer told her Prince wanted her to look at them as a start to the process. Prince often reached out to people via his associates.

He's very very thin here. Look at his neck. I also agree with Susannah's observations that his Afro did not look full and his skin looked sallow. * I remember watching this as it was happening, and thinking the same things. I thought he did not look well. I remember thinking that either he was sick or had just aged a lot in the last year or so.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yes, I think that is just unacceptable, and really a low blow. Regardless of the time period, those people meant a lot to Prince, and were all a huge part of his life and career for many many years. Just bad behavior in my opinion.

I thought that was funny what she said about Bobby turning to her and saying "This is your fault isn't it"? I was thinking that she mentioned that in the interview that aired previously. From the way she described it,it seemed to me that Prince was so excited to record the song that he wanted to get it done right away while he was still in the place he was in emotionally and as a sort of apology to her. Then the trip to New York and buying the ring afterwards, then the trip to Paris. He seemed to be in a vulnerable place at the time.

haha I wonder was Bobby still in his wedding outfit while playing drums
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yes, it really showcases how Prince needed to play the music not only to communicate his feelings, but also to relieve himself of whatever emotions he had built up internally. Quite amazing really. I also loved that quote from Bobby, because it demonstrates that they all knew this about him as well. * I think there may be some deeper detail with their fight and what led up to their temporary split, because he also recorded Go and Sexual Suicide in the same sessions (per princevault), which refers to his woman cheating on him and/or wanting to leave him. * It really just makes these songs all that more special, because he truly was "in the moment" with the music and lyrics - like a real "day in the life" of this man and his feelings. So great!

LOL!! No doubt he was still in his tux Poor Bobby. As Prince said to him when he told him he had to let him go as drummer - he was a good soldier!

Susannah did state that Prince was extremely generous with helping her during a very difficult time. She and Toure are also friends, so I'm sure he was respecting her privacy. This was not a "let's try to get every detail" interview. He was being considerate and giving her time to clarify certain parts of her relationship with Prince without being too intrusive.
