Yeah, I'm old enough to remember when watching Ricky Ricardo, pull Lucy over his lap to spank her like a child for disobeying him was hilarious and cute. Not so funny anymore to me. Ideals change, sometimes for the better. The violence comes because of the way of thinking is to devalue women who aren't where "certain" people think they should be.

Things don’t change in a vacuum. It takes anger, sympathy, empathy, sarcasm, education, discussion, time, etc to change things. You (or anyone) might want your daughters to be pole dancing strippers, but that is not okay with me and yes I will judge you harshly. But the article that is associated with this thread is talking about the race issue not just the women issue. [Edited 12/12/18 15:28pm]

And your "judgement" means what in the scheme of things? I'm just saying views change and the change starts somewhere.

I left the article alone because I really don't know the guy who is doing the calendar or his work so I really can't say much on how often or how he places black people in his calendars. I kind of get the argument but still it's kind of flat because at the end of the day Misty still is at the top of her game and that's what counts.

I thought the “certain people” comment was off the mark is all. I would not want anyone I love to be a pole dancer for dollar tips. I don’t see how that makes me a “certain person” but alas, you are certainly free to judge me as one.

But again the point of the article is whether a white ballerina would have been portrayed as a pole dancer. I don’t think she would have been but we’ll never know. We are all just looking at the pretty pictures and missing the point of the article.

To be honest the certain people comment wasn't directed specifically at you or any individual. It was a collective statement towards a certain mindset. There have been many stories of some pole dancers just being college students paying off their degrees to moving on to bigger better things.
Time keeps on slipping into the future...

This moment is all there is...

Well you all should look at his past work as I assume the author of the OP article probably hasn't either. The life of a dancer is rocky, whatever genre. And it's an age old story trying to make and doing whatever you have to. So white female dancers have been exposed to stuff longer than Misty.

I doubt it has anything to do with her ethnicity (her mother is 1/2 Italian 1/2AA and her father is 1/2German 1/2 AA) by the way.

And at the end of the day, the storyline was something that obviously moved Misty to want to portray.

She is a free agent.

But again, the disregard of the OP's bigoted self righteous and sexist comments: First Janelle turning into a raunchy, pansexual, sex pot and now Misty on the stripper pole!
