Oh okay. Did she dance for a few shows in Europe late summer/early fall of 2010? Because I seem to remember that. I saw on Prince Vault that she was a guest at the show in Nice on July 25th 2010. That was what I was thinking of.

[Edited 12/12/18 7:54am]

I don't have any recorded of her performing with him on that show. She might have been in attendance. July 25th 2010 There was a show Espace Nikaia Nice, Franc and an after show @ Le Palais Club

Ok. Maybe it was for the after show then. Thanks!

Don’t know what Prince would think, but personally I’ve always looked down on strippers and figure if they are stripping for money they might also be prostitutes. Of course the men that use prostitutes are innocent, clueless imbeciles that otherwise would be upstanding citizens if not for these loose women throwing themselves at them.

Personally I don't see what the big deal is. Why is her on a stripper pole causing a problem, and the pic of her showing her VaJJ is no big deal?

How would Prince be disappointed when he's dead, and look what the females did with him on stage...

Prince was never afraid to break the 'norm' even by the way he dressed or acted on stage.

Hmm. Maybe PV has the info wrong. According to the show details for the show in Nice, she danced to "Purple Rain" and "Shhh" and was onstage for "Shake Your Body Down To The Ground","Every Day People" and "I Want To Take You Higher" and "Dance Disco Heat" They have her dancing to "The Beautiful Ones" for the show at the Izod Center. Thanks again!

I say it all the time, until people deal with and reconcile sex sexuality and nature and 'religious or political' ideals we will have continued conflict about sexual expression

why? you said she was in attendance to a Nice show right? But that wasn't even confirmed right?

Attendance doesn't mean perform. Pull up the info/link were you got the Nice, France attendance please? They could be right. But they also had Miko Weaver as guitarist for the 1985 Nice, France show and he wasn't.

I'm still looking though.

I listed the show details in my edited post but here's their page about the show in Nice www.princevault.com/index..._July_2010 It's not really important, just trying to remember what exactly I was thinking of. Yes,I have found that their info isn't always accurate.

My reply is about this: but personally I’ve always looked down on strippers and figure if they are stripping for money they might also be prostitutes.

.

If this is how muchtoofast(Ironic name) feels about strippers, then they will automatically have an issue with Misty posing in this fashion. And that will color their vision on everything else.

This entire thread confuses me. Seems to me in the dance world the tiptop symbolism of class is ballet as an art form the lowest is a stripper/pole dancer. Now here I am thinking the whole idea was that a prima ballerina is giving props to the profession of pole dancing all in the name of female empowerment, ie, not allowing men to define our value in this world. It's all hard work and it's all skill. Yet, the mentality around here (see she has her legs gapped opened, or see she's not wearing much clothes you can see her panties, ooooooooo she's being bad) comes of at the level of someone making fart noises with their armpits as being the tops in humor and wit. Damned shallow.

Time keeps on slipping into the future...

This moment is all there is...

TIME: Why did you focus more on the narrative of these four women characters than a traditional fashion format?

Albert Watson: I was for years, a great fashion photographer, that’s all I did. I always did some portraiture on the side, but as time went on – magazines – they would push that aspect. Then there was that request from Steve Jobs to photograph him, but the thing I didn’t want to happen here was for me to do a Pirelli calendar that was all portraits because that wasn’t going to happen, and I didn’t want fashion pictures. So the idea was, can we make this calendar photographic? Not fashion pictures, not pretty shots of models. But how can we make these images with a little more depth and meaning and weight to it?

http://time.com/5470291/2...interview/

Has the way you approach using models in photography changed in light of movements like #MeToo?

In the end, it didn’t seem right to take a bunch of models to the beach and [ask them to take] their tops off. Doesn’t seem like the right climate to do that. I never had a problem with photographing women nude; it’s a very simple kind of equation. I would say, “Can I photograph you nude?” and if the answer was yes, I would do it. And if the answer was no, then that is the end of the discussion.

In all four of the narratives, you have female protagonists, and in most cases, they’re supported by a male counterpart — why did you want to show that dynamic?

I think you have to look deep and hard to find a man in the Pirelli calendar. I said, “Why not?” What are we saying here? These are women that want to do something, that want to be successful in the world today. If you ask Laetitia, ‘what’s important in your life,’ and she says my painting is, that doesn’t mean that her boyfriend isn’t. It’s a partnership. A man can support a woman.

“Copeland’s character earns her living by dancing in a club, but at the same time she has also put up a little stage in her garden, where she practices dancing in order to become a star, sometimes with her boyfriend, played by Calvin Royal III,” Watson explains.

He adds that his intention was for each photograph to look like a film still, "I wanted people looking at the calendar to see that my aim was photography in its purest form, exploring the women I was photographing and creating a situation that would convey a positive vision of women today."

It was just the January - May leg of the 2011 Welcome 2 America shows.

she was dating her current husband Olu Evans, in 2010 and Prince was seeing Bria Valente

Misty and Bria both married.

Yes,at the time we were not aware of her boyfriend but there were rumors in late 2010 and early 2011 that she was involved with someone. I recall several threads were made about Prince and Misty being romantically involved due to her escorting him to those functions. Prince seemed to be single at that time and she was the only woman he was seen with, until the photos of him with Andy taken in Montréal. That put the rumors about he and Misty to rest and people focused on the next girl.

They looked amazing together. Misty seems like a beautiful person with a heart of gold. Sometimes I wonder if Prince really wanted a woman like that deep down though...he always seemed to go for the narsissitic girls. Jmo...but some of the women..kinda odd. Misty is like the perfect woman in a lot of ways.

Nice to see the additional photos and to know the vision and intent of the photographer behind them. I understand more what they were trying to convey. The garden photos are beautiful.

Can’t admit to something you have no idea you are doing. I bet the photographer is clueless about his racism just like above where someone made the sexist remark of “Misty was presenting her vagina to Prince”. WTF?? Does anyone here think Prince would have told her to spread her legs and offer her vagina to him and she’d go along with that? Yikes, I think Misty was dancing for him, interpreting the song, and showcasing her phenomenal range of motion which just so happened to include the leg spread. But she had on clothes, she’s not naked, this is not an intimate setting so why would she be offering her vagina to him? As some kind of payment for what’s happening in the song or even for him “allowing” her to share his stage? That a woman is there as a equal performer and interpreter or Maybe even was allowing him to share HER stage is unthinkable to the sexists. I bet he reached out to her because she was the IT girl, she was everywhere for a while and he needed the lift in TV advertising.

Lovejunky said:

Actually you have that completely wrong !!!...

Prince was working with Misty well before her appointment as principle Ballerina in 2015

in fact it was 6 years before :she appeared in Crimson and CLover in 2009 as a relative unknown

It could be argued that her association with Prince helped her career..

In fact she credits Prince with giving her confidence...

so NO...

he didnt need the lift..

he GAVE her one...

muchtoofast said

I totally did not mean this as a slam to Prince, I just wanted to point out the fact that Misty and every other woman on this planet is not beholden to and doesn’t owe a man any vagina just because he may have been nice to her. I don’t want to read any woman being reduced to just a vagina and that is what I got from an above comment. Just “why the heck would she be offering up her vagina???”

Even women with uber talents are reduced to only what sexually satisfies a man and it pisses me off.

Im referring to the Comment that I bolded,

where you suggest that Prince used Misty for his own purposes !!!!

Why are you only addressing the parts I have not contested ?

Because I didn’t want the subject changed to one of “yes she’s beautiful and look how she’s even woman enough to
present her vagina to the nice man helping her career”.

I know but just from a biological standpoint and fertility that would have worked if he wanted "Future Baby Mama" and just from interviews Misty seems like a very mature young lady ( and kinda an old soul) so I don't think a marriage with an older man would be a challenge for her. She seems to have qualities that would make a loving mother. She would have been a wonderful M3 imo. Sorry, I wish Prince had a loving woman in the end to show him love and support. I really hate the undignified way he died...i just hate it.. but I guess that is just my wishful thinking.

Yes,Misty seems like a wonderful young woman and it did seem that Prince was interested in her romantically at the time and Dr. Funk suggested that in his podcast. I thought she was a bit young for him but she came across very self-assured and mature and I thought they would have made a nice couple. I remember some of the fans kind of romanticizing their relationship. I liked the idea of them as well probably also because she seemed so different from the women he usually dated.

Well I’m nothing if not average and I’m old enough to have had lots of friends and relatives and co workers who would also be real sad if a loved one became a pole dancing stripper. That world is filled with drug and alcohol abuse and violence toward women.

We will never know what the photographer would have done with a white ballerina but I think that question is important.
