This is your real issue, not race. Well I’m nothing if not average and I’m old enough to have had lots of friends and relatives and co workers who would also be real sad if a loved one became a pole dancing stripper. That world is filled with drug and alcohol abuse and violence toward women. We will never know what the photographer would have done with a white ballerina but I think that question is important. So funny that the same can be said for Hollywood and the Music Business yet society treats those people like Gods and strippers as degenerates.

That's some true. But that is still the real issue.
And not all exotic dancing is filled with that stuff, whether it's male or female strippers. That isn't full true.
I'll say again. Until people deal with their issues of sex/sexuality, male and female sexual expression will always be viewed unequally and there will always be conflict.
Misty still agreed to it, and she wasn't forced, not had to do it for lack of exposure or money.

That is right, But THAT 2nd image is offensive to some people. I'm a huge fan of the ballet. I know it is hard work.
We have the OP who cares more about what Prince would think. Misty is not on the stripper pole. And whose opinion is very sexist and judgemental in how they clearly feel in how they worded the thread. Misty did not take a new direction and become a stripper. Why aren't you all calling that out?
and saying Prince WOULD NOT be happy about this! First Janelle turning into a raunchy, pansexual, sex pot and now Misty on the stripper pole! But she looks HOT!

Yeah, I know what you mean. She was just breaking into her own though. I think become a Prince wife at the budding of her career, might not have been fair to her.

I didnt say she did... she was appointed as Prima Ballerina of the ABT in 2015 !

Oh ok, I like Misty, so if she did do something else I would have like to see it I almost read that sentence backwards

I do to.. I wonder how Prince found her ?..in 2009 ,when cast in Crimson and clover she was relatively unknown... Love the way he put talented people in the spotlight and gave them a chance...

[b] While I apprechiate your open mindeness, I can tell you the exotic dancing world is filled with lots of that stuff. They really are cesspools of human dysfunction but then again I think bars in general are. But there are lots of Pole dance studios, pole competitions and exotic dance arts emerging that are safe spaces for women to express that part of themselves with no learing men. I have personally met some great friends from the community. As for Misty, this is just a role and she was entirely safe from the reality of it.

I have a friend that does Pole dancing... Yes..its more of an art form than a suggestive display... I think its important to distinguish the difference between Pole Dancing and say Twerking.. IMO...One of them calls you to think "wow the strength and agility it takes" whilst the other is more about
"See this arse' ? Do ya wanna........?"
The opening of Legs is nothing new to dancing is it ? ...its par for the course..and woman have Vaginas in between them ..so what....? But when you get down on all fours and shake that booty...well..woman also have bootys, but for me I find the way that Twerkers move very far from Liberating or empowering... or artful...Its just suggestive provocative and kind of Gross.... WHen that Minaj girl gets down on the floor...I just cringe.... Cant compare that to Pole dancing, where the objective is to be strong...

Pole dancing naked while creepy men throw dollar bills at you is a bit different from using a pole as a way to dance, exercise and express yourself in a safe non sexual environment. When Baryshnikov jumps with his legs spread does anyone think he is presenting his penis to us? No, he’s jumping to get where he wants to go, and just so happens to have a penis. Yes, Misty has a vagina, but also yes, Baryshnikov has a penis.

When I was a dancer I never twerked onstage. Actually I think Twerking can be kinda sexy if done just right as just dashed in a routine as a surprise. The problem I have with Minaj and such is her music and videos is mostly consumed by young children/tweens. Strippers are for an adult audience. My sons are not going to watch MTV with my knowledge.

Things don’t change in a vacuum. It takes anger, sympathy, empathy, sarcasm, education, discussion, time, etc to change things. You (or anyone) might want your daughters to be pole dancing strippers, but that is not okay with me and yes I will judge you harshly. But the article that is associated with this thread is talking about the race issue not just the women issue. [Edited 12/12/18 15:28pm]

I mean though that the girl didn't have to necessarily be her. I mean hell I would have been ok if he married Bria or someone like her just as long as she gave him geninue love. Yet he always seemed to waste his time with the most self absorbed women and honestly to me that says something about his judgement. Honestly I've noticed his past girlfriends seem to have alot of anger/ rage issues it seems like...i mean, WTF Prince?????

Good articles and I had never seen that video about Prince's involvement with the Joffrey Ballet included with the second one. According to that article Misty first danced for Prince at a show in Paris. Thanks! [Edited 12/12/18 17:44pm]

Huh? The Rolling Stones & The Beatles are always more likely to get on the cover of Rolling Stone than acts mainly popular in the 1980s. The magazine is called "Rolling Stone". You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I agree. Honestly I began to realize that he probably wasn't going to marry again after Bria and he started dating the young ones again. I thought he and Andy were cute during their time together even with the age difference but knew that was going to be short lived. When he said in the last interview with RS that he was leaving whether he married again up to God and it would have had to have been like a force that he couldn't escape,I didn't think that he seemed that keen on the idea. I guess he may have been afraid to go there again or hadn't found anyone who he felt that strongly about.

Well I guess it was just all apart of his incredible journey.even though I usually never like to say something so fatalistic.

Yeah. I do think that he may have missed the emotional connection and security of a loving relationship at times from the lyrics of some of the later songs and the way that he was talking during the P&M shows. He seemed to be reflecting and reminiscing about past loves a lot. I just recently listened to one from Oakland and he talked about Vanity a bit which was nice to hear. [Edited 12/12/18 16:38pm]
