Thank you for sharing this conversation between Parke and Mr. Hayes, Latin. I truly enjoyed the entire exchange; however, there was one part that is perhaps one of the most revealing things about Prince ever shared by an associate, at about the 14:35 mark of Part 2.

Parke said that they were once shooting a video and there must have been a lull. Prince was sitting across from him and he surprised the photographer with this revelation: He confided that his life/career was very stressful. He then pointed at all the people milling around and doing their jobs there at Paisley Park. "All of these people depend on me to feed their families," he said. I'm paraphrasing, but this was the gist of what Parke said that Prince revealed.

That was the most profound thing I took away from this excellent book talk. In fact, it might just be the takeaway when one thinks of Prince, who doesn't often get the credit he deserves as a businessman/provider. I think, perhaps because of his musical genius, we often forget that Prince built Paisley Park when he was only 26 or 27 years old and he maintained it for almost three decades. That is a remarkable accomplishment. Steve Parke brought that home with his random recollection in response to a question posed by Mr. Hayes.
