Wonderful ass was written originally on the 1999 tour and gifted to Vanity. She played it non stop before the shows during that time.

Check out her IG. She has some interesting things to say. I am glad associates are starting to speak up. You got arrongant people handling the music who are acting as if the associates have died as well. They are alive and well and if any of them have copyrights to any of the vault material all hell is going to break loose when it could be resolved by simply reaching out to people who were around and have valuble knowledge. |

I follow her on Twitter but hadn't been on there in a couple of days and may have missed it. It's SICK that she didn't get credit for her contributions to those songs. What about the others? Were they contacted prior and given credit? I haven't purchased my copy of PR Deluxe Extended yet, but maybe a boycott from fans is in order until apology and proper credit is given to ALL contributors/ associates. [Edited 6/26/17 8:10am] |

This new book coming out in the fall will also confirm that "Strange Relationship" was inspired by Vanity. http://prince.org/msg/7/440766
For so long it was only "Wonderful A$$" that anyone of significance in the Prince camp confirmed, but Prince changed the narrative starting with the confirmation of "The Beautiful Ones" being inspired by her. I'm not surprised by any of this. I knew that Vanity was the inspiration for many more songs than "Wonderful A$$"...
So far we have solid confirmation on:
The Beautiful Ones
Strange Relationship
Wonderful A$$
Those are the solid confirmations, not the rumored ones we all know of. I wonder what will be confirmed next? [Edited 6/26/17 14:24pm] |

You could be right but the deal is already signed and remember WB has their own vault of Prince material which we are now just hearing. I wish they had enough common sense to put the right songs on the right projects but at least they broke this set up so you get to pick what you want somewhat. I see some hope but I hope they actually talk to more people than Wendy and Lisa.
What is going to happen when the redo 1999? . Jill is all over that record. Are they going to put outakes from Dirty Mind on the 1999 remaster. |

If you are going to do a deluxe version of Purple Rain you have to paint the complete picture and not leave out important songs, and give proper credit (eg. Jill Jones and Appollonia) to those who helped make the film and the soundtrack a success...otherwise its half-baked. [Edited 6/26/17 18:52pm] Keep Calm & Listen To Prince |

I believe this is the truth. I always heard Wonderful Ass was about Vanity. But it isn't a far fetched thing for the further development of a song to be extended to someone(s) else. I believe Possessed the Rise and Fall of Prince talked about the Wonderful Ass - Vanity connection.
.
If are saying that is was a playful flirty thing between them and Prince when working on the song, I don't see why it wouldn't been seen as a given between a few people.
.
Thing is even if Denise Matthews was alive, she would not care. As the person(s) were told when reaching out to her about the period of her and the early Purple Rain stuff. The answer back was she has nothing to say about it.

Prince said he had a way of cutting people off or out of his emotions. Something he didn't like. It is highly plausible that he did this with Vanity or any other persons when they were no longer around and then applied someone else to the inspiration of a song as they fit in. I read some stuff about certain songs originally being about someone in the early 90s and later about someone else. I think I remember this from the Love Symbol period.
Susan Rogers talked about hearing this when she came into the camp in 1983 right before the Dance Benefit show.
Wonderful Ass is a track recorded in early 1983 at Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio, Chanhassen, MN, USA. The track is a pop-funk track with synth lead lines, a drum machine beat and rhythm guitar. The track's lyrics were supposedly inspired by Vanity. It is unknown if Wonderful Ass was intended for any project at the time of recording.

I didn't say he cut her out of his life, but there probably was a small point back then when he did.
And also 'divorcing' a person from the music even if for a temporay point. I don't need emails from her brother in law, I've always known of Prince & Vanity communicating. I believe she briefly mentioned it in an early 2000s interview.

What does the small time he cut her out have to do with these songs in some cases being written before Susannah even came along.

Wonderful Ass Started sometime in 1983 Susannah met Prince and Vanity early 1983
and officially @ the 1983 Dance Benefit Show
early 1984 Vanity leaves the Prince camp 'Old Friends 4 Sale'
Prince even for a short point could emotionally dismiss Vanity from the connection of the song, and in reviving the song 1984-1985 attach inspiration to another.
.
People in the camp 1987 were allegedly told not to mention Wendy & Lisa's name(short time) and then he is talking to them about their music and I believe he did some work on the first album and by 1988/89 he has Susannah Wendy & Lisa join him and the band on stage @ Paisley Park for a few songs...

you are reaching. Jill is saying that Prince wrote Wonderful Ass for Vanity on the 1999 tour and gave it to her on that tour as a gift. Remember Prince knew Vanity before he knew Susannah. I also might remind you he was a brother and brothers have a thing for rear-ends. As we have heard him reference to asses in many songs. I am going with Jill.

No one is reaching. Pay attention to the progression of the thread. Someone mentioned P could have originally been inspired to write a song about one person, but that inspiration sometimes changed over time and the final result may not have been just based on one inspiration. OF4S was just trying to give an example of how that might happen. Swear you don't miss the organ grinder grinding on you every day. |

Oh stop with the brother stereotypes stuff
he likes the back side but not necessarily big butts, none of his women had that
...Apollonia didn't have back
She had chest...
What does liking 'ass' have to do with who is right or wrong?
'she had the cutest ass he ever did c, he did 2 they were meant to be?'
who is he talking about so we can see how big this behind is. Cute asses don't mean big behinds.
He treats U special like your the only one
Then your girlfriend tells you that he's having big fun
He likes em pretty
He likes big titties He likes them in lingerie

Appollinia was an actress in a film with him. She has said they were always just friends. So why would he care about her rear end and if you think what I said about brothers is a sterotype then you once again her showing you know nothing. Give up.

Because if she was not what he liked visually 4 the film she would not have been in it
Lake dip scene, bedroom scene ...
Stereotype... look at all Prince's women. None were 'thick' that is a stereotype. But he did prefere dark curly hair... he also 'like big titties'

Yeah we do have proof. No one is saying Vanity was not a part of this. But there are other songs were it started out with 1 woman having it and being the inspiration and later one it is also someone else |
