Always heard he had the Revolution on a few cuts on 1999 but most of the album is him. The death comment is just more ignorant shit from this ass. He finally got from behind the drums and does not know what to do with himself.

mark doesn't play drums..

I know he does not play the drums. Back in the day he complained about Prince making him stand back by the drums on stage.

that quote totally floored me. This band seem to be desperate to vent ...under the guise of healing?!

Laurarichardson Laurarichardson. U got caught so throw your hands up and say you were wrong. . During the Parade tour he was standing near Dr Finks set behind the 3 dancers. I would complain too. But the 'bible quote' he used out of context. He did not mean it in a bad way obviously when you read everything else around it.

What did BrownMark say in that interview that was not celebratory and exalting of Prince.

He does sing background vocals (together with a host of others) on DMSR (?), so I guess he thinks he made the album The wooh is on the one!

He did not mean it in a bad way. I've heard many people use that 'verse' to mean we are all sinners and death is our ending. . I agree the band sound was a group effort. By 1981-82 the rehearsal and band sessions were taking on a different drive. I'm talking about the noituloveR and the Time. So if you ever read any pieces by Lisa Jesse Johnson Morris Day as well Prince was developing his sound via his human instruments. The Minneapolis Sound / Purple Music came this way, and that is why it is so tied to Prince during that 1980-1987 period.
Jesse talked about some of the What Time Is It? sessions and Prince was usually there too, and he always had everything recorded. So there were jam sessions where the band was working on songs, and then the next day. Prince would take stuff they did and re-recorded it himself.
Different noituloveR members talked about that same thing. Not in a bad way, they just said something you didn't know if it was them, Prince, or Prince on top of something they did. I believe Miko and some early 90s NPG members said similar.
I'll find the interview it was either 1985 or 1990 where he talked about when the band started being more involved. I think he said around 1981, but it seems it was actually 1980s Dirty Mind sessions

totally agree with you & that's why the quote hit me for 6..seemed out of context & spitefull given the rest of the great interview.

This was one of BrownMarks first 'actual' interviews in a very long time, and this was the same year but before Vanity & Prince passed away. I actually posted it 12 before Prince passed away.
2.1.2015 This is an exclusive interview with Mark “Brown Mark” Brown from The Five Count radio show in Mankato, Minn.

once I developed my own bass style that fit with what we were doing it was all over ... Yeah um It was a lot of fun, a lot of people like to say did you collaborated with Prince in the studio

Did I hear he was also a JW? Am I right?
I don't think he meant it that way either. I just wish he hadn't said it.
Is Jesse basically saying Prince took their group ideas and then recorded them himself and then gave the songs back to their band. What was the point of that? To clean up the tracks and provide song structure? Or, so he can later claim credit even though he put it under their names in the first place? For control? And what did Prince have to say about this?
BTW, I was not referring to the Time, or even Controversy or Dirty Mind, I referred to 1999. [Edited 6/24/17 14:50pm] [Edited 6/24/17 14:54pm]

Did you read the article? I believe the article was celebratory of Prince and how much Prince influenced BrownMark. BrownMark praises Prince throughout the article. Why would you take one snippet from an interview, and turn it into a negative? His remark was not meant to be negative. This is some BS. [Edited 6/24/17 16:58pm]

YOu realize the irony of your reaction..you took me out of context to claim that I took him out of context. I stated that it was a well-intentioned interview and that he probably didn't mean it the way it sounded. I just think he needs lessons in media savvy because the quote by itself could be taken out of context....

The scrutiny of this is off.

But it was the same processes
Did U hear who was a JW? Hey Prince said he thinks women wearing burkas was a good thing

I explained about complaining in the past about being placed behind the drums. Stop being so quick to jump me because you have issues with me and pay attention. OldFriends4Sale said:

I followed up with an explanation. Not my fault you did not take the time to read it. OldFriends4Sale said: oh just doing to u what U do to other sweet Maybe if you took your time payed attention and typed it would be clear, what you are saying and meaning?

You come out the gate like a bull, Just take your time and it won't go this way.

It is only going this way because you are making a non-issue into an issue. OldFriends4Sale said: You come out the gate like a bull, Just take your time and it won't go this way.
