I found an interview with him about his work with prince and their relationship (in german):

I've seen many interviews with him over the years, and he seemed to be a very gentle man. I have tremendous respect for him and his work.

Thanks for the article. What a talented man.

From the article what stood out for me:
- He explains the colour take-outs. The movie was filmed in colourfilm, but with lighting like a black and white movie.
- Prince listened to Schostakowitsch in his limo.

Even if you don't like UTCM as a movie he was the reason that made it watchable because of the great camera work. Rest in peace.
