Talked about this subject w/a good Friend of Mine this Afternoon. If U REALLY think about it, We've been gettin' served "Part-Time" since the "Ice Cream Castle" Album & Purple Rain Movie. Sh*t: Couldn't even stay 2gether long enough 2 b on the "Purple Rain Tour". And various Members have come & gone. But it is what it is, right?

Here's My Two Cents: If there MUST be a "Part-Time" (which seems 2 b the case these days, because The Original 7ven is MORE like The Dysfunctional 7ven), THIS would be the MOST BOMB VERSION:

-Morris Day (Vocals)

-Jerome Benton (Backing Vocals, Percussion & Mirror)

-Chance Howard (Keyboards & Backing Vocals)

-Monte Moir (Keyboards & Backing Vocals)

-Jesse Johnson (Guitar & Backing Vocals)

-Ricky "Freeze" Smith (Bass & Backing Vocals)

-Jellybean Johnson (Drums)

I mean.....I KNOW this probably wont happen. But in My mind this would be the MOST KICKASS "Part-Time" EVER!!! It seems 2 Me that Jam & Lewis don't really wanna tour (although that is EXACTLY what Jimmy Jam promised on Video Soul 30 yrs ago: a FULL reunion & Tour), Jesse has toured the World and then some w/D'Angelo & Chance is on Tour with Candy Dulfer. Oh yeah: and have Alan Leeds manage the Tour (I walked RIGHT BY HIM @ D'Angelo's Seattle Show)!!! That would be SOMETHIN' ELSE!!!!

p.s.: I was dreamin' when I wrote this. Hey......a play on WORDS!!!!

I think there should not be a replacement 4 Jeromes spot if it is not the O7

I think a stripped down version of the Time would work... Morris Day (lead vocals/drums) Jellybean Johnson (drums/guitar) Jesse Johnson (guitar/lead vocals) Monte Moore(keyboards) Ricky Smith(bass) If Jerome cannot be there, don't fill the spot

yeah I am not a fan of Tori Ruffin! I know there are folks who do like his spot in the current line up that tours but it feels like he tries to be Jesse instead of being himself in my opinion

I co-sign on this! it's called ORIGINAL 7ven for a reason! NO SUBSTITUTES! To me Ricky, Tori, and whoever else is in the mix are just substitutes!

Same here, I would fund a Time tour, outfits, stage set up backdrop -something like a combination of their 'stoop' background from the 80s and the SOTT backdrop

Morris Day and The Time as is... as good, or better than anything that came before it.

Sorry to post something that may have already been posted; but I thought that "The Original 7ven Story" that's up on YouTube was fascinating. I know that long time orgers probably knew everything already; but for anyone new; check it out.
