I feel you... But I can honestly say that, except for today, for the past few months a laugh or a smile would always come first. I will celebrate her as a gift to the planet, or at least to my world, to show me the meaning of endurance, courage, faith and joy. At age 25, she got a kick out of someone playing her on the big screen.

The poem You is prompting crazy emotion. I believe in heaven but it does not make losses of the ones we love hurt less. As the poem notes when thinking of who you want to spend time with or laugh with and then forced to remember they aren't here anymore. It stings and squeezes the heart. Thanks for sharing the totality of who she was with us. She is such an inspiration.

Excellent idea Goddess. I'll be doing the same along with watching one of her sermons. I wished I would have planned a virtual movie night with all her fans. That would have been nice... [Edited 1/4/17 18:01pm]

Happy Birthday to my sister Denise K. Matthews / Vanity
Her existence made a significant difference in my life... and the lives of many others.
Denise gave me this magazine 4 years ago but I never opened it until lastnight to find that she had signed the inside also.
Today feels like 11 months ago, it hurts… I am missing my sister, my friend… I don’t know what to do with my day. Normally my routine, my thoughts, my plans for this particular day would be about Denise. My first thought is to be selfish in my grief and feel moved more by duty to post something, say something… meaningful, worthy of her and her significance in how she touched so many lives as Vanity, as D.D. Winters and or as the Evangelist Denise Matthews. But, how do I? We were artists, poets and often shared our ideas and writes. Your experience is uniquely yours… No more or less important in that her existence touched you, amused you, mused, challenged you, inspired you, made you think, laugh or just smile.
So I leave it to “You”
YOU
She asked,
Stepping up from behind, Slightly off to the right Sliding her hand down to find mine. I, having gone outside She followed… into the crisp dawn twilight,
“What’s on your mind?”
There’s a break in the clouds It's been awhile Nice to see the stars again… however brief… I’m Thinking
They say tomorrow another storm is coming I suppose it's irony's dry humor reminding… of how we are living. In these patterns of contrasting weather, Feast or Famine Drought or Drowning Extremes swings of cold and heat.
But Honestly… I think this… was kinda getting to me.
These depressing, unending, overcasting days. As the nights’ enhanced being “Alone” to being “Lonely.”
And when you find yourself Weather beaten and thickened skinned. Forecast; cloudy atmospheric conditions. With no expectation of the sun’s shining ever again and Then when it does… We tend to just take what we can get. And then think about who we want to share it with…
“You” I respond, "My mind is on… You.”
Happy Birthday Sis, I miss you so much
[Edited 1/4/17 12:39pm] I just had a dream recently that we were having a birthday celebration for Denise. I guess it was her telling me it was her birthday after all. Happy Birthday to my beautiful friend Denise! Glad I got a chance to hear your music. [Edited 1/9/17 23:15pm]

Yes; I believe in the broken heart syndrome; I think there is more to their frienship than we know. I do not know if romantic but I think they were closer than the public knows in some capacity.

I absolutely believed the man when he said they loved each other deeply! I don't think they were romantically involved anymore, but I do believe Prince held a certain kind of love for her that transcended time, and I believe his heart was broken when she died. I'm not saying he died because of it, but God took both of them practically the same time for a reason... [Edited 1/24/17 21:14pm]

I think they had a connection that was way beyond the romantic it was not earthly, mortal kind of thing but spiritual as you said transcending space, time, what we can see on a totally different level - I think they were twin flames ( they are not always romantic )
