I'd love to know what she meant by it- it's so random. I know there was talk about it on here somewhere in a thread because people were discussing the jellyfish symbolism & I remember thinking there are jellyfish on the MPLSound album & wondering if it was related.

Yeah, this did come up on the big Vanity thread. It's one of her original artworks, Prince is in it and it's her last post.

It's interesting she's emersed him in water with jellyfish around him. Jellyfish were on the Lotusfl3wr website. As mentioned, they're on the cover of MPLSound album. He has jellyfish on stage with him at Montreux 2009.

In the song Here on the MPLSound album, he talks about being emersed/under water:

As for "dangerously" it can mean "to act or live dangerously" ie. to take risks. What she intended by this I don't know. Obviously, how you choose to interpret her art is up to you.

She was still in contact with people Prince was close to, she said once before she died in a phone interview with a christian station (wouldn't talk about Prince tho, too personal to say what the relationship was now) said she still spoke to people from her old life. Sheila E i know she spoke with...even Mayte posted her and Denise would talk about animals and her rescue efforts a few times, Mani as well said they never met but she had ''interactions'' with her and there were others i am sure. I feel maybe she was told things, maybe Denise had knowledge of his pain, addiction, etc. she might have known of his struggles.

I think that your interpretation is a pretty good one. It seems kind of like a variation on the whole principle of karma, that what you do can come back to bite (sting) you.

An extra bit of info that may be relevant/not:

The Collector's hardcopy limited edition of Denise's book "Blame it on Vanity" is peppered with her original artwork. In her book, there's an earlier version of the Prince playing his guitar with the jellyfish artwork. The water is a pale blue grey and the picture is reversed (he's on the other side). The words "Lassoed" run across the bottom of the picture and form a frame around it. It marks the start of the chapter "Lassoed" that explains how Prince and Vanity met at the 1980 AMA's and the beginning of their love affair.

The artwork on Instagram looks like it's an updated version of the artwork she used in her book. The picture's been flipped, the background is a deep blue and the layout/frame is different (header and footer above and below picture). The word 'Lassoed' has been substituted with 'Dangerously' in a different layout.

Although, do we even know what relationship they really had? There's so many bizarre things like Vanity wearing a wedding band in the early 80's while she's in V6 on TV. It just raises questions of whether they were more serious than publicly acknowledged. The more you look at their behaviour, the more obvious it is that there seems to be a backstory that hasn't been made public. And of course, there's nothing wrong with that, just because you're famous doesn't mean you can't have a private life. But you're right, it's a shame they didn't have easy path.

I guess it could be about karma but if it was posted in 2014 it could have been her way of trying to warn him about getting in bed with Warner's again or someone else around him that she felt was toxic.

Also, she said in an interview that she was offered milllllllllllions to do a tell-all book on her time with Prince but she said she would never do it. And you know she needed money badly...so, it would have been very easy and really beneficial to reveal all the skeletons in his closet.....and you know she knew stuff LOL and could do a great tell all book and take care of all her bills at the same time, but she said she would never do that to him. That says a lot about her and how she felt about him.

It doesn't matter that she was selling the art. It's still the last and only picture of him on her Instagram account. It's still her original artwork and it's of him. The artwork stems from an earlier artwork that's used to describe their relationship and how they met in her book. And who are we to pass judgement on what she meant by any of this?
