Specifically Patriarchal heteronormative ideas on what a "man" is. They all may have loved P. but I've often wondered if they really knew or saw him for the being that he was? "Nona: The artist formerly known as Prince.


Nona, how closely are you working with him now?


Nona: He’s doing my album, so we see each other quite often. I go to Minneapolis to work on the stuff. So we work closely together.


How would you describe your relationship with Prince?


Nona: He’s my best friend, that’s the truth. And that’s all I’m going to say.


How do you feel about the rumors that you two are much closer than that?


Nona: People can say whatever they want to say. That happens all the time. When you see two people hang out together you just assume. And people can assume as much as they like but, my business is my own business. He’s my best friend. "

Nona has talked about their relationship and they were more than friends. If you do some Goggling you should be able to find many interviews with her. In addtion, their is a YOUTUBE video of a panel discussion were Vernon Reid said he was around the night at the Danceteria when Prince broke up with her. He was seeing Carmen, Mayte and Nona all at the same time.

Actually there is an interview with her and she said she did not give that interview to that tacky tabloid. She said they made the whole interview up. I will find it and post it later. I keep telling people on this board to stop believing stuff in the media about Prince right now. It is all being done to get clicks and some point someone will do a real in depeth look at his life later down the road.

It wasn't derogatory - it was a joke. Wendy and Lisa were asked if Prince was gay - and they said no, that Prince loved women - that he was sort of a fancy lesbian that way. The "fancy" referred to the way he dressed because very often lesbians are sort of...uhhh..."basic" in the way they dress.

It was also said in the context of Wendy saying that the first time she either saw or heard Prince (I can't remember which), she thought, "I could so fall in love with that girl."

It was all said in fun - they were not deriding him in any way.
