REVOLUTION REUNION AT FIRST AVE, SEPT. 1, 2 AND 3 “With profound loss and apocalyptic grief, we, along with the world, mourned Prince upon the news of his passing. After seeing the response outside of First Avenue and around the rest of the world’s monuments, we, as The Revolution — Wendy, Lisa, Brownmark, Dr. Fink, and Bobby Z — have decided to pay tribute to Prince at home in the city of Minneapolis.” — The Revolution The artists who were at Prince’s side as he catapulted to international superstardom — and who had a hand in putting Minneapolis and First Avenue on the map with Purple Rain — are reuniting to put on a pair of shows this September that can only be described as historic.

A tough decision - without much time to make it. [Edited 7/6/16 8:31am] We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

seems like things are getting segregated by group. I'd like to see one big festival with all the musicians he ever worked with, but it looks like it's going to be seperate things.

The Time just played in Minneapolis last week. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I hope they'll live stream it. What?

It seems like the plan is to still have the "official" celebration in August. Hopefully, The Revolution takes part in that as well because most fans won't make two trips.

This. So many band are livestreaming concerts these days. (We call it 'couch tour.') They could charge $25--make it a chartiable donation--and get a TON of eyeballs on it. I hope they will do this!

I did see something recently that the guy from Australia that painted the mural in Chanhassen was invited to the celebration in August by one of the family members. It is getting late. Hopefully, they will announce something soon.

Bobby Z is now in good shape, and he has been playing drums even more since then. Even played Purple Rain with Prince on a show or two after his heart issue
every year since then was a reunion of shows @ First Avenue 1st with the full Revolution, and I believe last year it core group with guests were Bobby Z Dr Fink Dez Dickerson and Andre Cymone

Mark BrownI need this as much as you. I have no closure, I have no peace and the void echoes loud in an empty space deep within. Playing my bass is the answer and sharing the music with you is what will heal. Minneapolis "First Avenue" is just the beginning. Love & Peace to you.

I don't think so. It's not like everyone was a full band and now they are splintering off.
Something about the Billboard/BET tributes irk me for some reason. But a show like this @ First Avenue is just a start, no doubt more people will guest and join in. You still might get the 1 big show in the future. This in in Sept is just a start, and I suspect their time to say goodbye as Sheila was able to say goodbye @ the BET tribute, now she will celebrate the music and the man. Morris Day has done the same and I believe the Time(O7) will get together and do the same.

After these showsI, the BET celebration, and my trip to PP, I think I'm all set unless they open up the Park like they did during the Celebration. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
