It appears that Shelia E and The Revolution would be more geared toward honoring, memorializing, and showcasing P's lifetime creations and accomplishments. This would help to provide the closure that the fams need as well as themselves. Truly a labor of love. On the other hand, the other side only sees $$$$$. Not the needs of the people who have loved P all these years.

If the Revolution members did lied that they they should be called out and just admitted that they were declined after the family invited them. The Revolution need to realize too this whole mourning process isn't about them even though they were around at the height of P's career.

I read somewhere shortly after P's death Matt Fink said Revolution had gotten offers to perform on various award shows and they declined because it was too soon. I hope Matt Fink speak out more of what is going on because I love the DR and he keeps it real.

Wendy & Lisa were asked to perform Prince’s “Sometimes It Snows in April” with soul man D’Angelo on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” a few days after the death. They declined.

“I couldn’t even play my piano for a month or more,” Coleman said.

“I couldn’t play my guitar,” Melvoin added.

“We could barely talk to each other,” Brown said.

I was referring to Matt Fink's Billboard interview I dont understand why you bought Wendy and lisa's quotes in the mix. I always loved hearing Matt input about things because he is one of the longest band members.

Well remember right after he passed she said she was asked to help organize a tribute and she would be musical director? She also said she wanted to get all the original people. I'm thinking Bremer and Londel McMillan got involved and they want to take the tribute in another direction, i.e. Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Stevie Wonder were mentioned later. I'm sure she was probably hurt by that and know that they are just going for $$$ now. I was disappointed when I heard those people were wanted for the tribute. I'm more with Sheila's idea about having all the bands he had and proteges, but I get that a non Prince diehard could care less and they want to attract even the casual Prince fan. Well f**k that! They were not the ones who supported him through the years and are really distraught by his passing. I do know that Sheila's show in New York was scheduled before that date was announced for the Prince tribute. Sorry to ramble.

They should still be able to gather and do a full associate artists tribute

It would be a miracle for that to happen. Only time will tell I guess but no way that is going to happen on Oct 13 there are only six weeks left. I just cant see it unless there is going to be a big turnaround by then with the revolution and the time get involved. But I heard from Dr Funkenberry too Morris/the time also have a gig on that same day.

The article says what they declined to come to the memorial. Don't make this something else.i don't know fink feels left out,but all u as a host can do is offer.

What's jill malfunctioning today? Whatever it is i can't b mad, grief comes in waves.i hope this doesn't meltdown into mudslinging. neutral

Well I've now seen more than one associate dogging out another one, so I would think it would be kind of awkward for some of them to be in the same room. It's like they have some competition of who was more involved with Prince.

But that is on FB and if people are not on a persons page they don't see it.
In the post in the OP they are even saying that haven't really been looking or responding to anything.
I have not read anything about strife between Sheila/theTime/Revolution/NPG

It was just a reason why they didn't feel ready to do anything musically yet

Wow Jill is/was going hardcore on the Revolution and she took a veiled shots at Wendy and Susannah.

I won't post it on here though. She also since deleted the post on public viewing you have to be her friend to see the post.

Yeah it is hard to believe the family didn't invite the revolution.

I am Prince fan first and I refused to take any sides. I have been saying for months there definately some cliques going on among the associates and I refuse to take part of that. Even though the revolution is my favorite band I like the bands prior to the revolution and post revolution.

[Edited 8/26/16 20:05pm]

It's just crazy. She posted her "truth" and no one from the REVOLUTION or others from the Prince camp came after her. It's just so childish on her part. Almost like a bully

i agree she can be a bit of a bully.
not posting it here but... dayum. she should address it privately... far as i know no one has ever dissed her publicly like this? i dont know jill regularly goes like way the f off on a variety of subjects - i like her but sometimes its crazy pants with a capital K lololol

I know it seems like a silly notion but I really wish all of the purple family could be together and celebrate. Everything seems so...seperated. I mean, I understand, I truly do. They are all musicians, artists. They all have their own gigs and things to go to. But if there could just be one event where everyone is included (egos, hurt feeling, or whatever aside)...that would be stellar. So many seperate events going on. It's just so scattered...and really sad. It would be so great if the tribute coming up in Minnie could include everyone in some way and that it could be televised for the purple fam that can not go. I think it should be done not just for us, but for him. Just show some love- a huge thank you. I am really glad the Revolution is doing this though. Such a beautiful and talented group of people. I feel like they've been kind of left out a bit. But of course, I don't know what's going on behind the scenes. I really want to go. sad Closure would be nice.

I am afraid it isn't going to happen anytime soon too much beefs going on among the associates from what I heard....

So the Revolution and the Time are fussing with each other again. Just like the old days.

Praying none of this turns ugly. Right now it's sad and unfortunate.

The Time? I haven't seen anything concerning them & the rev. Think it's already ugly tbh. We had Van Jones saying their gonna sit back & watch who's a fake friend, the neg feedback towards Judith from P's ex manager & co. Dingleberry's insinuations etc

I think this whole thing coming from Jill is indirectly toward Prince

http://beautifulnightschitown.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-question-of-u-jill-jones-talks-2.html

I think the album was a very intellectual album. We made a decision to take a lot of the poppy songs off. Once Clare Fisher puts the strings on it... I wanted to leave them on... That's where I sealed my fate to never have a hit record...(Prince) could have given me "The Glamorous Life". Sheila E. would come to the studio to play basketball and I did not know that the child was going in (to the studio) late at night and singing the songs...

Ten years. Ten Years (emphasis added). Wasted. Yeah, ten years wasted. And I don't think fondly of these ten years, the ten years that I'm thinking of... But, I got a good song out of it.

Jill Jones on the unfinished second Paisley Park album: We (Jones and Prince) were kind of were at two different roads. The song (“Boom Boom”) was from 1982 and it seemed forced. He kept remixing it. I went to do the video, but, it was late, it was too late. And I just ended up going back to New York, got married and waited until my contract expired. During this time he called me-- and I was at a friend's house-- and said, "you don't have any charisma, you should dye your hair black and you need to get breast implants like Brigitte Nielsen." I was furious... Dickens (CEO of Warner Brothers UK) was instrumental at one point with Roger Davies, my manager, when we were trying to complete my second album alone. Without Prince. But, Prince rejected every attempt we tried.

-- There is a story Jill told about Prince and Jill going to the Jack the Rapper convention and everyone being shocked she was black. Black radio were not playing her record because they thought she was white. He may have wanted her to ditch the blonde her for that reason or was just irritated that the record did not do well it was his first side project to bomb.

My first album was a very long pregnancy, good God, it took so long get out. It was a really ace album, but, the timing was way off. I don't think everyone was ready for it. Radio wasn't looking for it. There's a rap convention in Atlanta that I went to and people came up to me saying “you're Black? I didn't know you were Black! I would've played your record.” I just came back to Prince, like, “should I just get a tan?” White people somehow knew I was Black and they said “I'm not playing that house Negro on the radio.”

The album was dead in the water. Then, I went to a function and I think I was crying. A Warner Brothers executive (Rob Dickens, CEO of Warner Brothers UK) saw me and he put money into the project to do promotion in Europe. We made the (music) video (for the single "Mia Bocca")...They (Europeans) always liked Josephine Baker, that whole thing always worked. I was discriminated against in my own country. I opened for Jody Watley in LA and, seriously, the crowd just stood there whole time with their arms crossed. I was angry dancing. I was singing “G-Spot” and I was like “I'm not going to shake my ass.” I know (on past tours) I would go out in my bra and panties, but, then I put on my trench coat and I'd leave. I just threw the mike down and walked off the stage. Prince came to me and said “is that it, are you done?” Maybe he created the diva in me.
