Prince's ex attends Minneapolis court hearing over newspaper's bid to unseal divorce file

Attorneys for Manuela Testolini argued in court Thursday that the details of her divorce from Prince should remain private.

Manuela Testolini, Prince’s former wife, appeared in Hennepin County Family Court Thursday to oppose an effort by the Star Tribune to unseal records from her 2006 divorce from the late musician.

Judge Thomas Fraser didn’t rule on the matter, but took it under advisement.

Testolini entered the courtroom with her attorney and an attorney from Bremer Trust, the special administrator overseeing Prince’s $100 million to $300 million estate. Testolini didn’t speak, but her attorneys objected to the release of records tied to what her lawyers called a private settlement agreement which ended their five-year marriage, which was Prince’s second.

One of Testolini’s attorneys added that she has been subjected to harassment since Prince’s death, and told of a recent encounter with the paparazzi while pushing her daughter in a stroller.

Star Tribune attorney Leita Walker said Prince’s privacy died with him, and the public interest in the contents of the court file are newsworthy given his death from an accidental overdose of fentanyl on April 21 and related questions about financial matters and his estate.
