Sheila E. Not Performing at Prince Tribute Concert?? No Sheila E. At Prince Tribute???
To provide clarity and to avoid confusion, I am not scheduled to perform at the Prince Tribute Concert currently planned for October 13th. In these months after Prince's passing, there is still much being sorted out and discussed. Among them are performances and tributes which have taken place and planned among many different groups and organizations. It is appreciated that each of us; family, friends and fans find ways to display our respect and admiration for one who gave so much to so many. In the course of the days, months and years ahead, I like many of you will continue to honor Prince in various ways. I thank you all for your consideration, love and support of me, all of the Paisley Park families, and the Legacy of Prince, now and in the future. God blessed us all, Sheila E.

I am perfectly content to let give Sheila a pass so she can exhale. There's more than a little tension in air and she might be glad for a chance to step back a bit. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

No more wishful thinking for me. I guess we'll never see all of his bands and proteges at one tribute. Le Sigh.

Londell says that the line-up will be announced after Labor Day. According to this report, Sheila E. is still on the tentative list.

Let's see who's willing to disappoint Londell and the estate, keepers of the vault...and future releases.

She did the BET tribute and it was great. There's no need for these people to appear at every tribute.Anyway, she's on her own tour right now.I'm sure she will be doing some Prince songs at her own shows.

True. And, Tyka and the family came out to support that effort. That's why, in the end, I think she's going to be there at the Tribute Concert. I can't believe she'll disappoint Tyka. Just my humble opinion.

Makes me wonder who IS scheduled to perform... If not Sheila E., then who? Then I wonder whether the line up would be people I want to see do a tribute to Prince at all... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Just my humble opinion. She's got a show scheduled for that night in NYC. Of course her wording "I'm not scheduled" I guess gives her some wiggle room but my guess is she wouldn't have made a statement if she was still possibly going to be there. She's already done a tribute so I don't think she needs to be there but it does leave the impression that there are tensions between the family, those overseeing the estate and Sheila. According to the Star Tribune Mint Condition and The Time will be there. My guess is some of the NPG band members along with the 3rd Eye girls will be there too (Shelby J and Trevor Guy seemed to confirm this) but not sure beyond that. If there was some big name I have a feeling it would have leaked by now. http://www.startribune.co...391937311/ Paisley Park is in your heart

I was just listening to Mint Condition this morning. The Time and Mint Condition--great! But if Sheila and/or The Revolution aren't there, it would be a bit of a disappointment for me. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I don't think her statement gives that impression at all. She already had a prior engagement so her name should not have been included in that newsletter about the line-up and I think she cleared that up as tactfully as possible before anyone would/could have been misled into thinking she was going to be there, when clearly she's not. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Mint Condition is BIG!!!!!! Yay!!!!!

So why weren't schedules synchronized before the Tribute date was set? Gee Whiz. I think there's more going on here....

Just think how many t-shirts Sheila could sell at U. S. Bank Stadium. There, I said it.

Maybe they tried but that was the only date they could get for the venue. It is football season after all and that is the home of the Minnesota Vikings. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Sheila is cool, but Im feeling some sorta way about the shirt

I didn't think anybody noticed the shirt, nursev. Yet, she thinks it's "too soon" for the estate to conduct tours. And she has an entire collection of shirts. Did you click on the link?

nursev said: Sheila is cool, but Im feeling some sorta way about the shirt I've always liked Sheila but something's not sitting right with me too. Sure, she's "honoring" P but who's pocketing the profits? Surely at least a percentage should go to the estate. I really hope so There's always a rainbow 🌈 , at the end of every rain ☔️

Really? An entire collection of exactly 3 shirts. 2 of which are the title of a song that she made and the 3rd is of the tattoo that she has on her left arm. If she sells more than a thousand of all 3 combined, I'd honestly be surprised. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

The estate has to face the looming estate tax deadline. I'd rather see them conduct tours than have to resort to selling Paisley Park and/or Prince's masters. It couldn't have been an easy decision, but, in the words of Billy Sparks: "This is a bidness, and you ain't too far gone to see that!" And, yes, three is a collection. It simply means "a set of apparel designed for sale usually in a particular season." That's what those shirts comprise, a set; and the season is that of Prince's passing.

By the way, Prince's living quarters will NOT be part of the tour. Plus, Paisley Park was much more than a home to Prince. It is a one-of-a-kind enterprise that he built with his blood, sweat, and tears. And he often opened it up to his fans. This is just doing that on a much larger scale, as P himself envisioned. Even Sheila E. has gone on record saying that he was already in the process of planning to make PP a museum. So, folks need to get past the sentimentality and stop acting like the family is hawking tickets to P's personal mansion. Paisley Park is a SHOWPLACE.

Then, you're in for the surprise of your life, HatrinaHaterwitz. If the comments on her Facebook page are any indication, these shirts are already selling like hotcakes. Many are also inquiring about where the proceeds will go, with one person even calling it a "shameless cash in." If she is selling these at all of her concerts these days, she could easily sell hundreds, if not thousands, at each venue. [Edited 8/31/16 22:33pm]

Does anyone know if Sheila is licensing the use of Prince's love symbol on the t-shirts she's selling? Paisley Park is in your heart

Good question Keep Calm & Listen To Prince

What about the Rev? Will they show up? The wooh is on the one!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I don't think the Revolution will be there either. They are spending a lot of time and energy in mpls for a few days this month. Can't see them being back so soon but who knows. And Sheila did her prince thing already. I'm good with seeing what some other musicians come up with. And that is the Vikings bye week so that's probably why they picked the date they did. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN
