But I was not in a major band, or on MTV. Many people, not just Wendy & Lisa have said that they contributed to Prince's music but didn't get the proper pay. The Family was on the radio, yet the band never had a contract. Levi Seacer, Jr, Tony M, Rosie Gaines, and more all said they contributed and didn't get the proper credit, and the result..... proper pay. Yet Prince complained he wasn't paid properly for his music. Prince said he had two Time albums in the vault. Ok..... if musicians should own their masters. Why didn't the Time hold those masters? If he belived what he stated about his own music, then why didn't he have the same respect for what others did? Wendy & Lisa said they were willing to work on the Roadhouse Garden album. But Prince was not going to pay them. People have asked Wendy & Lisa why Prince's music doesn't sound like it did when they were with him. The answer is..... They are not with him anymore. Yes they were a major part of what Prince published in what is known as "the golden age of Prince". When I read this site all anyone talks about is the lost Dream Factory album and the lost Crystal Ball album. Yet I don't hear cries for The Rainbow Children outtakes. Or a day by day examination of everything of the time around TRC. Not like the time around Dream Factory or Crystal Ball.
Now that he is gone you people are going to down them for getting a slight paycheck for work they never got properly paid for in the first place? Really?
For me this is not about money. For me this is about being able to see the Revolution. What I was sold back in the day was Prince & The Revolution..... Not just Prince.... When he died they had all kinds of big names on CNN commenting on his passing. I was wondering where were the members of the Revolution? Turned out they were with each other and other production people they worked with when they were with Prince. For me.... It was not too soon. For me it was what I needed.

Not the point. Others played on a lot of those records, yet were not paid as such.
Bob Dylans drummer was getting $1200 per week at one point in the 70's. Prince paid the time 150, he paid the Revolution 300. VERY GREEDY. |

Tacky & an obvious cash in OR she needs the cash so lets support her?(i think she has hinted her finances r not great?) According to the takedown notices she's filed, she has IP rights to it. So you can freely and enthusiastically offer her the same fervent support you would offer Prince for selling the shirt.

No issue with the Revolution playing shows. That time was a big part of their lives too. I would expect that they will honor Prince well in the shows. Otherwise they won't do it. |

When random people like Madonna pay tribute folks aren't happy. When the people closest to him pay tribute folks aren't happy. Morris Day and the Revolution are musicians and they are honoring Prince in a way that feels right to them. I would imagine getting out and performing is more cathartic than sitting home watching people like Madonna butcher his songs. If not the people who worked with him in the past, then who should be out singing his songs?

Wendy and Lisa irk my soul, they always acted like they were entitled and the Revolution should last 4ever. They had words when she noticed that he was trying to go to his african american roots and hire african american dancers. Prince was not gonna stay in the same genre 4ever. thats the prolific musician he was.
No im not going to see a revolution concert without Prince. Id definitely wanna C Morris Day and the Time. [Edited 6/7/16 9:09am] |

FUCK NO.
The Time are a different beast. They were a band unto themselves (kind of)... They have a catalog, They have a front man, and they could cover a lot of Prince songs with a degree of authenticity.

that isn't how it went at all. people tried to insinuate race into the issue which is so untrue
Wendy became a fan when she was dancing to Soft & Wet, and Lisa was right in the middle working with Prince since his earlier 1980s with the Time Andre Dez BrownMark.
He nevr said that and she/they never had issue with the music. Prince never 'changed' genre he never played 1 type of music. |

Most casual fans of Michael Jackson can't name three people from his bands. Once he left his brothers, and went solo, nobody really kept up with his bands. Who were in MJ's bands? I'll wait. Crickets.
Prince never got full credit. Prince would have saved himself from headaches, and all this whining if he never named the band, gave them such high profile. He had the ability to write, sing, play, dance and record. I went to his shows to see Prince, not the bands. Really wasn't important who was behind him for the most part. Most of the many shows I have seen, stood in line to see, brought friends, only two people asked about the band. Shrug. Oh, that's right. I was waiting patiently for him to come with his microphone and piano tour, (with no band). [Edited 6/8/16 0:37am] He's in the Big White Mansion. RIP Prince |

But the band and protege bands are the things the seriously helped make the period of 1978-1989 so exciting. 1 man couldn't carry it himself. Prince created a fantasy land, Uptown Erotic City Paisley Park made so much more sense with the visuals of the band members.
It's almost like when people say Prince should just put on some jeans and a tshirt and play his guitar. That would be so boring.
Up till 2016 what made it all so much more interesting was his bandmembers/protege members. If he didn't he wouldn't have been able to tell the stories of Lisa & Vanity and others on the Piano tours.

That's not really the same thing. Outside of the Jacksons, his bands were simply musicians who played his music live when he performed. They weren't a group.

Just an FYI....I was in Minnesota at the UNOFFICIAL memorial that old band members and employees and family of Prince attended. And I was there to witness the Revolution getting together for the first time in years, and it felt right between them.
Wendy and Lisa are in no way hurting for money as every major movie or TV show has used them for the score. All the other musicians have been keeping active doing other things too....
They just feel that to honor the man that brought them together they should go on tour and perform the hits of that time period. They know its not going to be the same as if Prince was fronting them, but they all had a hand in creating that sound and they want to get out there and honor him and give his and there fans something.
When he was alive they wanted to re-form and do this, and he was starting to come around a bit, but then he passed away. I think it is a wonderful thing and I am looking forward to these Revolution shows, and also any other shows his former band members from other eras put together.
