Mayte 'Children of the Sun' I've just recently rediscovered Mayte's album from 1995 and I forgot how good it is. Can't get it off the car stereo! [Edited 5/8/16 7:02am] |

Generally I find a lot of people think the album is weak, as Mayte could use some vocal polishing... but I appreciated how Prince executed it. It comes across as a little forced & mainstream, but tracks like In Your Gracious Name & that guitar riff from Ain't No Place Like You save it for me  . It would have been interesting to hear some of those songs live, but I am not sure that was ever possible, Prince might have had to carry the vocals...  "All the world is faith, trust and pixie dust...''

I prefer Mayte's version of 'If I Luv U 2Nite' over Mica Paris' version. | |

but she has presence and great partner for Prince's shows and videos, and she is another reason why
