Sad to see that she's selling all of that stuff, especially the engagement ring. It has been almost 20 years ago for Mayte so it could be good for her. The music stuff should really go back to Prince. I doubt he's missing the clothes though.

Agreed.

I did no such thing. That's me replying to the first half of your post and then me agreeing with you on the second half of your post.

in the description of the items, at the end, it says who is selling the particular items.

there are items being sold by Owen Husney, Dez Dickerson and Mayte.

Mayte is NOT selling his guitar, demo recordings or tapes.

You're so smart.hug

lol. you're being ironic, aren't you lol

anyway, she might have all this stuff since prince didn't want it anymore as it reminded him of
her too much and the time they were together. there's outfits from NPS up to Rave. that whole
era where they probably were already drifting apart.

maybe most of that stuff was in the house in marbeilla (since the china is on sale now too, lol)
and he was like "girrrrrl, you keep those threads, for all eye care u dress Wade up in them, bye
now, gotta go, manuela just arrived with my jamba juice"

falloff

I mean it. I didn't see it. smile

I could understand Mayte selling her wedding ring, but selling the letter Prince wrote her when he proposed is super tacky and low rent of her.

Prince is better off without that gold digger. Glad he dumped her years ago. I feel sad for him, but just the way it goes sometimes with women. I assume he wasn't perfect in the relationship either, but he doesn't deserve this.

Gotcha - sorry for the misunderstanding. I hadn't seen a reply formatted that way before.

A "gold digger"? You really believe that she only married Prince for his money? hmmm

Not sure how I feel about the brazen exploitation of past intimate relationships, but is anyone surprised how protective of his "space" Prince is?

Those tapes are not in Prince's posession. The person who owns it can legally sell it if they choose to do so.As I said earlier,he is very careless with stuff like this.He would freely hand out tapes to friends and associates, and that's why there are so many Prince bootlegs on the market, lot. He should have done a better job of protecting his music.

They can legally sell it but whoever buys it can't legally do anything with the music on it! Besides a standard tape (not chrome or metal) and the fact it is demos is likely to be poor audio quality.

Don't think Prince was careless nearly every artist has unreleased demos out there e.g. Kate Bush all her early demos are out there.

Expect the demos might have better stuff than a lot of the very mediocre stuff Prince has released lately.

.

There's hundreds of outtakes on boots, including whole album configurations. All because Prince was very careless -- this is a fact. Dude gave unreleased music to chicks to impress them, for instance. And there's still a ton of stuff only circulating amongst a very small circle, so all of the widely available stuff isn't even close to the full picture.

StarTrib has picked up the story (yet somehow don't mention Dez as one of the sources of the items, even though he's mentioned in the descriptions).

.

So again I ask: why isn't this a sticky? Why isn't this on the front page instead of stale news about passed concert dates?

Why don't you start your own website, where you can sticky the things you think are important?

Strange that this early version of Sometimes It Snows in April has, at least to my knowledge, never been discussed here on the org.

Also strange that it´s never been mentioned by either Dez or Owen Husney.

That´s a a pretty spectacular item.

The price seems way too high though in comparion to the other items.

Can't trust what we're told to be the whole truth. People have an agenda, so who can say.

I think Prince himself is behind these items going to auction. I'm saying a '1959 Gibson' doesn't just go missing and then turn up in an auction one day without a legal fight from it's owner.

What if the tapes and kits are stolen goods? Say they were stolen by some hood who fenced them to some pawn shop and then the auction company is selling it for them and adding it to the pile of the late 90s Mayte stuff.

.

My guess is this auction will flop like most of his late 90s music. the late 90s music and look is probably the least interesting part of Prince's life and his output.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

The provenance of each item is known, but I guess famz can't bear the thought of their hero being such a careless twit that such items are out there.

Prince strikes me as the type of person who doesn't care about old material things ("Attachment is stagnation",he once said in an interview).I doubt that he even cares that Mayte took those things.
