I was unfamiliar with this group until I started getting into the outtakes. Man, those are some of the big stinkers of the collection! Incredible to hear how flat Kiss could have been in hands like theirs. Jerk Out is a hopping track but it's like the singer was so impressed with the track he forgot to put anything good of his own on it.

I just heard their version of 100MPH, which is OK but no a patch on Prince's.

Am I overlooking something great there or was this one of the least rewarding P related projects of all time?

Mazarati is one of the BEST albums that was ever released on Paisley Park Records.

"Stroke","Player's Ball","Suzy","She's Just That Type Of Lady","100 MPH"....Minneapolis funk at its best!! When this album was released,Prince was abandoning this type of funk on his own albums,so I was thrilled to see Mazarati keeping the Minneapolis sound alive.

"I Guess It's All Over" is an intoxicating slow jam...love that bass!

I like Mazarati's first album too. It's good, hard synth-funk with lots of rock guitar. Of all the Paisley Park releases I've heard, I agree Good Question might be at the bottom. I haven't heard T.C. Ellis' album yet.

I think it's an 80s funk masterpiece.It deserved much more attention than it got.

Is it really a Prince related act if he didnt work on the music? My understanding is that they only recorded an album on Prince's label.

You're overlooking their album which is one of the best things released on Paisley Park, that's what you're overlooking.

You are basically jusging a band based on 3 songs, one that was rejected, most likely because they felt it wasn't good enough, and that was later turned to a piece of genius by The Time, one that was turned into a piece of genius by Prince when he finalized it, and one single song from the album (on which they don't play much given that they've used P's basic tracks), and then after comparing outtakes to later, finalized versions and hearing a song they almost didn't record at all, you come-up with an opinion on that band.

For your information Mazarati released 2 full-lenght albums, the first one being considered a classic masterpiece of the Mpls sound era by most of those who have it, and the other being a very respectable funk record even though it was less impressive than the first. You are not entitled to have an opinion on them until you've heard both those records in full.

I would argue that Mazarati was the last good Paisley Park LP. NOTHING Released afterward was even worth releasing. Like mentioned before TC Ellis was one of the worst LPs ever realesed in the history of music itself. I have never heard theor 2nd joint outside of sage of a man. But The 1st one is an outstanding body of funky work.

That Belize record was so non-eventful muscially. I dont know what someone at PP was thinking with that project.

You don't like the Madhouse albums? Or Jill Jones? Mavis Staples? My favorite non-Prince Paisley Park release came out in 1990--The Time's Pandemonium.

Ouch! And I can't even argue. Though Carmen Electra and Mayte may have TC beat as worst of al time.

They were funky as FUCK. Their Paisley album blows me away still, it's where Prince probably would have gone had he not gone into psychedelia instead (he plays on some of the songs though, supposedly)

I think the only thing that held them back was Sir Casey Terry's voice... goddamn, the man can't sing to save his life, and sounds horrible trying.

I enjoyed their period in the camp. Another casualty of the Revolution break.

It was cool that Sheila E/Eddie M. and BrownMark and some Revolution members would join them

on stage sometimes.

Sir Casey Terry, I wonder who his (non-falsetto) voice sounds. Because it was too weak. He had the energy definately, almost like Cat. But I think Terry Christian() guitarist might have been a better lead

Mazarati was too hard for Kiss. Bad fit.

"She's Just That Kind Of Lady" should have been a single That song is a JAM...my favorite track on the album.To me,this sounds like a Time song,including Sir Casey Terry's vocals which remind me of Morris Day.
