Tyka Nelson's gospel music...yay or nay?

What is the thought about Tyka Nelson as a gospel artist? I bought "A Brand New Me" when it came out and dug it moderately, but at the same time, I thought a lot of the sound was underproduced. I remembe hearing her talk about Prince offering to help her out, but that she turned him down because she didn't want to have to deal with him taking over the project.
