Bobby Z's 3rd Annual Benefit 2 Celebrate Life Featuring Bobby Z & Friends

It's on 6/28th @ First Avenue... This year Purple Rain actress Apollonia Kotero is back 2 Minneapolis and First Avenue 4 the first time since the release of the Oscar and GRAMMY-winning film 30 years ago.... Some of U have been where it all exploded and some have not. It's 4 a great cause and will bring back lots of memories, so support Bobby Z. and the AHA and go 2 Minneapolis where the Purple Yoda began http://first-avenue.com/e...artbenefit
got Prince?

HOLY SH*T!!!

Download all the shit hop that you can for your kids, neices, nephews, and their friends also. That will prevent them from going out and buying it and will prevent some shit hop sales. Every little bit helps - Andy

It's really Apollonia's first time back to Minneapolis since purple rain? That seems weird.

Eye Agree nod and it's not about him anyway... If he didn't show in person 4 the first Revolution reunion, we shouldn't associate this w/him directly. Bobby Z. made it clear and not even purifying Apollonian in the real Lake Minetonka gonna change that fro

Lol. I went to kindergarten in Minneapolis and didn't return until over 20 years later, so I hear you. But Minneapolis made her famous, so I figured she would've been back for some event post-1984.

Thats what I am saying. I guess she indeed left Purple Rain life behind her after the era ended.

Actually it isn't her first time back since PR (but close enough). She was in MPLS in 1987 to co-host the Minnesota Music Awards - it was televised nationally that year.

Awesome night. Met Apollonia and got pic with her. She was very nice and sang Take Me With U with G from the Combo at Bunkers. Paul Peterson did Mutiny which was so awesome along with Eric Leeds. Sorry kinda drunk right now but was awesome. Also talked to Andre Cymone who was hanging out backstage. Such a great night. Talked to Bobby and he was super nice.

Great time last night at First Ave! The evening began with a VIP reception upstairs, with a photo opp with Apollonia (who was very sweet and charming). Bobby Z and Doctor Fink and others mingling in the crowd. Downstairs, Prince tracks were playing to set the mood (Girls and Boys, DMSR, Kiss, etc.). Show started with a surprise performance by Brian Setzer, who was fabulous!, Next was Sean Daley (I think) singing Let's Go Crazy; then Paris Bennett singing Baby I'm A Star; followed by a great performance by Sounds of Blackness (When Doves Cry, Optimistic, Hold On). Then a short clip of the 'purification in Lake Minnetonka' scene from Purple Rain was shown before Apollonia took the stage to sing Take Me with U (w/ G Sharp) -- tossing her hoop earring to the audience and generally having lots of fun being there! G Sharp performed Dirty Mind, and then Eric Leeds and Paul Peterson roused the crowd with COOL, Jungle Love, and Mutiny. Doctor Fink was at the keyboards and Bobby Z on drums almost all of the time -- fabulous to see and hear. The show was interspersed with heartfelt tributes by Bobby Z to Prince and to the physicians who saved his life, and pleas for support for much needed research to combat heart disease (#1 killer of women in the US). The evening cuminated with everyone onstage for a rendition of Purple Rain. Then a big screen came down in front of stage and the movie Purple Rain played while people mingled. Got to meet Bobby Z, Doctor Fink, Andre Cymone, and of course Apollonia! Great evening of great talent in a great venue for a great cause!
