Ingrid Chavez, Heaven Is Near, yea or nay!

The music is real good, beyond the weak coffee house poetry. I shouldn't even call it poetry.

The music really does save it. Slight yay.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Definitely a yay... I love the whole album though.

There is no such thing as an Ingrid Chavez song named Heaven Is Near.

Sorry.

Oh excuse me, Heaven Must Be Near. I mean the title was barely off... Is it that important?

Great album, like 'Sheila E' it really benefits from not being a fully Prince-production.

More seriously, and I've said it many times on this forum, I'm deeply in love with this album, the whole thing, each and every track. I think it was a bloody visionnary work of art and ater 20+ years I still enjoy it as I did back then.

Yea! Love the whole album. I only had the cassette for many years and recently got the CD. I was buying a mint copy off of Amazon and the guy was getting ready to mail it out and sent me an email saying he would still be sending it out, but would refund my money. The reason...it had May 19, 1992 written on the artwork and CD! lol I especially like Little Mama, since I know the woman it was written about. Leisl AuVante. The female in the Gangster Glam, Gett Off Housestyle, and TMBGITW videos.

SoulAlive

this album was a pleasant surprise. The music throughout is mesmerizing and trippy.Ingrid's soft poetry is really impressive.Even when she tries to sing on a few tracks ("Hippy Blood","Little Mama"),the results are pretty good. One of the best Paisley Park releases of the 90s.

"Heaven Must Be Near" is heavenly music the best song on the album

Actually, and this always was a very odd thing, the OFFICIAL title of the album was Ingrid Chavez. The cover said May, 19, 1992 and Ingrid acknoledged the title to be as such in interviews, but the side of the CD and cassette, all official catalogues (including Amazon!!!) and some articles from back then refer to it as Ingrid Chavez. WTF happened? IDK, but obviously either Prince or someone at WB wanted this to be an eponymous album (which was a very common thing for Paisley Park albums) and forced it over ingrid, kinda making the cover title unofficial.

Very very odd confused
