I'm surprised LG didn't put "Baby Brother" under the Special List advertisement.

"Raise Up" was just listened to... very tight, mid tempo, and funky.

This is the most Prince-like track... actually like a morph between Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament, and Prince.

. Where can one go to listen to this?

I'm still loving the new album from Larry G. I would agree his voice doesn't work on certain songs, I wish he would do like Santana and get more singers but mainly i listen for the bass and music! one thing he killed it on his big hit "one in a million you!" back in the day. i still go with the production is way better than GCS2000. Don't expect a Prince album. I know people who like funk and they will like the new LG cd.

Since both "Superconductor" and "Raise Up" are being released in the same month, anybody want to take odds on which album will outsell the other?

OOOH could we have a "New Power Pack" Part Deux?

If only Prince had some sort of room where he kept tapes of finished songs that could be put together to form an album. Hmmm...

The artwork for both Superconductor and Raise Up is black and white with the same type of design..... A clue perhaps or am I just being too optimistic

"Shoulda Coulda Woulda" sounds like an answer to Mayte via Larry Graham's song. Especially the lyrics "I could have had you barefoot and pregnant/4 kids in our backyard/but you went away". Considering that Mayte has went public about her past about her motherhood, I wonder if it's about her. Prince did produce the song.

Prince's funk is all over this album..With the exception of Sadiq. Who could have been left off...Its a "MasterPiece".....Wish Prince would have saved "Shoulda Coulda Woulda" 4 himself. But I'm sure he will do it live & kill it...

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

I would agree that the music is good old fashioned funk. But, Larry should not be singing lead vocals.

I listened to the little snips of Raise UP on Amazon.com & just don't get all the hatin' from u guys, I just don't. I mean I know taste is a personal thing, but what I was hearing was sounding really, really funky. I'ma loving it! Does anybody know if there will be live horns at the upscoming GCS gigs? Cuz there is loadsa root-toot-tootin' going on in those tracks & I will totally flip out if there is live brass at the London show!! biggrin That would be completely amaaaazing! Also I can't wait to hear a live version of Should Coulda Woulda, that wailing blues guitar is simply phenomenal. Wonder who'll be able to do it justice? wink

Listened to the entire album its good. Not as cheesy imo as GSC2000. I'm not as much a fan of Larry G's vox but the the music here is excellent and all out very funky and old school all the way.

I´m not really a big fan of Larry and Graham Central Station even though I do own some of his classic albums from the 1970s and GCS 2000 but I totally agree with you that this album sounds MUCH better than GCS 2000, the music is definitely good, albeit not really my cup of tea as far as funk is concerned ( it is FUNKY, no doubt, he is one of the legends of funk), it´s just a tad too old school for me.

His voice is indeed a bit irritating at times but that´s nothing new wink . All in all, this sounds like a good album even though musically it is really not my kind of thing but then again, I´ve never been a big fan of this kind of funk.

What´s with those one or two extra tracks on his website that are not included in the tracklist?

I wonder how old (or new) some of those tracks are. The first tracks I saw (not heard) dated back to the early 2000s.

Wow. That was certainly not the best thing I've ever heard. The first two tracks were okay though. I think this brand of geriatric funk is an acquired taste. It's just a little too throwback for me. Not timeless enough.

I do find it interesting that Larry's website has the ability to preview the album, pre-order, etc. and Andy's website still reads, "Please bear with us while we beautify this site for you..." Her album is dropping four days before Larry's. I'm just saying...
