Maya and Nandy McClean, the Sydney-born twins currently touring with Prince, are set to release a pop album this year.

The 28-year-old performers said while they’re influenced by many different genres, their music is pop.

“We’re really pop, but at the same time, we love the live stuff,” Maya told Who.

“We love a lot of Pink’s stuff and a little bit of Avril Lavigne,” Nandy said.

The girls also named U2, the Police and Fleetwood Mac as favourites.

They first worked with Prince on his 2005 Incense and Candles video clip and later performed in his Las Vegas show.

The girls admit they’re not fans of Prince and, at first, didn’t know much about him.

“In one of our early rehearsal days with him, Nandy saw some guitars up the back and actually asks Prince, ‘Do you play guitar?’ And he’s like, ‘I’m learning.’ She didn’t really get it!” Maya said.

In June 2011, Maya and Nandy performed Pink’s Raise Your Glass at the Viper Room in Hollywood.
