Carmen Electra

Just picked up the Carmen Electra cd and have been checking out tracks here and there. So far I really like the track "fun". I even like Carmens vocals on that one. As far as the other tracks, the music is really good, but the rapping gets a bit annoying. It would be cool to hear a version of the album without vocals.

It's a frightening album. Musically it's ok I guess, it fits in with the bombastic nature of Prince's sound around that time. Carmen's "rapping" is another story. It may have been easier to listen to if she had quit that awful 100mph rap delivery and just slowed down a little.

Her album is probably among the cheapest and easiest to find protege disc out there.

I had the fortune/misfortune (depending on how you look at it) of witnessing one of her shout fests on the D&P tour. From what I remember it was just her shouting (not rapping) and shaking her body parts about which was not all that bad an experience really.

I felt that way about most of Tony M's delivery too, in a live setting. I only saw her perfrom a couple of times. Once for the taping of the Ryde Dyvine special (lip syncning) and the other at a local radio station event. I did like Everybody Get On Up (borrowing heavily from Cream) and All That from the CD. Prince was enamored with her, to say the least.

Sorry..but I never took this chick seriously at all. Back then and even now.

WB was probably right when they told P to stop signing women he slept with and work with real artists.

She's one of the reasons why Warners eventually shut down the Paisley Park Record label.Over $2 million was spent to promote her album, but it bombed big time. That was the last straw.

I 'get' that Prince likes pretty women, but why couldn't he have found some pretty women with talent?? nuts They do exist!

I agree...the music on this album is excellent. It would have been great if he had found a 'real singer' for this music. My favorite track is "Fantasia Erotica".Under different circumstances, that song could have become a huge club hit back then.
