Don't call me nigger, whitey

Sly Stone was years ahead of his time and this is a song that proves it. No one even had the guts to write lyrics like this let alone sing them onstage. It was the last time these terms were used with any artistic or intellectual justification in a pop song. Shows us how irrelevant rap and hip hop culture is today by comparison.

Go to your parent's old record collection, dig it up, and get some knowledge, youngsters. Prince did.

Prince got alot of Music, stylings&Image from Sly Stone but He never went as far at pushing a Message like this like Sly Stone did.Sly also did this During His Artistic&Commerical Peak Prince never went so Bold with a Statement dealing with Race early on in His Career IMHO.

I did not say that Prince did make a similar statement. I said he got some knowledge from the old Sly records.

Also Sly was in the 60s. There were states in this country that he could have been lynched. There was a major war going on. All this came out in his music as he was a true artist. The world was different than it was when Prince came up in the 70s. One could make the same casse for the content of Prince's work through the 80s. If reflects the world then...for those of us who are old enough to have actually lived it and not just read about it.

GoldNigga

Sly was so drugged up it's a miracle that anything ever was recorded. Brilliant talent gone to waste.
