On Sunday March 2nd, I am going 2 see Maceo Parker at the Poole Lighthouse, near where I live in the UK!! I cant wait!!!

Can someone who has seen him, though, tell me what type of gig its gonna b !! ?? I wanna know so I can dress accordingly!! I would hate 2 wear jeans or something only 2 find out that its a more up-market,posh type of gig!!

Went to see him in Milton Keynes last night.

As the man himself says... They play both kinds of music...

2% Jazz and 98% Funky Stuff.

He played for 3 hours solid. Damn funky stuff. He does that JB thang of stringing a song out for ever, so over 3 hours he probably only plays 12-15 songs (I'm not kidding).

He frequently wanders off the stage and into the audience which is quite cool. Got a few audience members onto the stage.

The band was great. Greg Boyer on trombone, and Morris Hayes on keyboards/hammond organ. He introduced the rest but I'm afraid I've forgotten their names already. His son is one of his backing singers and has a few spots at the front of the stage as well.

Towards the end he tries to get some audience interaction going by playing Stand By Me and getting the audience to sing the chorus. He eventually had the whole place up and dancing for the last 3 to 4 songs (criminal really, we should have been dancing from the off)

You definitely get your money's worth.

BTW: Wear what ever you like... the band will be much better dressed than anybody else there

Oh... and he stayed behind at the end of the gig to sign autographs... True gentleman.
