Is it too soon to wonder if Prince is playing these cats? If they don't get the opportunity to open for him, they are going to look like asses, for playing his game YET AGAIN.

Nah I don't think anyone would buy that from P. at this stage. Regardless of whether we individually like FDeluxe/ TO7 new material or not, we know what they have had to go through and that they are musicians in their own right.

I actually think prince would look real bad if he 'played them' at this stage.

Another update on Fdeluxe's facebook page:

"We got our mind made up, we've had enough, we're taking back that ship" ... a new take on a old favourite?

They're obviously referring to Mutiny, which, given Doc F said Terry got his answer through the song, doesn't bode particularly well...

...at least it does mean some funky new/old music though!

It's been reported by members(St.Paul, Jimmy & Terry) of each band that they're in contact with Prince. It seems they've let bygones be bygones and maybe it's time the fanbase did the same if we ever want to see these reunions and tours we keep talking about. Posting about them on various networks and calling them stupid, foolish or whatever for dealing with Prince isn't going to help matters. We've seen that they do read the threads and follow what the fans say. The negativity isn't coming from them it's all fan mustered muck over old issues that didn't affect a single fan personally. everyone in Fdeluxe and The Original 7ven are timed tested musicians and they've managed to get this far without us micro managing their every step and decision. Let whatever happens happen and enjoy the music and/or shows that may come from it.

totally agree: all of us fans should take a step back and let what is gonna evolve happen - 2012 could be a monumental time for us or , at least, a fun time. Let's support everyone involved on this.

Err... ok. It's no surprise to me that Prince and many others read what we talk about and sometimes react. They have for years. But with that said we are fans talking amongst ourselves. What they do is what they do, and what we do is what we do. I didn't say anything negative and I'm not even on any 'social networks' so chill.

I just read the topic and it reminded me of when Prince pretended he was reuniting with Wendy and Lisa as tickets went on sell for his European tour, but then after all the hype they weren't allowed to be a part of it. Ticketbuyers were a but duped in my opinion. The FDeluxe posts, so far, seem like history repeating itself.

Second, they aren't 'in contact' with Prince. Prince sends them messages when he feels like it, but does not respond when they reach out to him. It's an entirely one-way form of communication. Hell, Funkenberry said Prince answered Terry's email with a song! C'mon, what is that? And it appears the song was 'Mutiny'. So what are you talking about?

You seem like you need there to be a villain in this storyline. Yet the proteges who have had contact with Prince (in whatever capacity you want to make it) have still had 10 seconds more of his time than you, me or any other fan and they're not whining about the past. The main reason the fans get disappointed is because we over speculate and get these fantasy notions in our heads and when our idols prove to just be merely human and capable of messing things up we get bent out of shape. St.Paul has said several times that the fans need to move on and that he has the utmost respect for Prince. Jimmy Jam has talked to Prince about producing him on some tracks. Terry Lewis spoke to Prince about the O7 opening for him in Austrailia. We do not know the capacity of any of these interactions and the people relaying them to us aren't putting a negative spin of being played on their comments so why are you?

As for said duped ticketbuyers if they aren't on this thread complaining about something that affected them so deeply then why are you? As a fan of the O7(I've seen you on the threads) the idea that they're trying to set up dates with Prince should come as good news to you and others.

All seems to be water under the bridge if you let it.

In the absence of Sheila E, I genuinely believe Prince may be using these guys. That is how he has played it. Tease, tease then disappoint. Hint at a reunion of some sort, then once the tickets are sold and his financial objectives are met, stop taking phone calls. I don't want to see that happen with FDeluxe, but I have seen this pattern before. As far as Jimmy and Terry are concerned, I think you may have skipped over some of what has been said lately. Jimmy has said there has been no progress with Prince. Jimmy has said that they were hoping "fan pressure" would help change Prince's mind about the band recording as "The Time". I have no idea why you keep saying (and you have for 5 or 6 months) that everything is just fine. It appears that FDeluxe and O7 are reaching out being gracious towards Prince, but i don't see Prince being gracious in return toward them. Now, if Fdeluxe/O7 opens for Prince during this tour, I would have to say Prince did a solid towards them. But so far there isn't any reason to believe he is going to do that.
