Snake

what was the track List of Vanity 6's Unreleased 2nd LP

I've heard Vibrator & Sex shooter.
We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced
when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.

Vibrator lol that song is so crazy and outrageous!! It's a shame that we never got a second Vanity 6 album.I think it would have been much better than the first one. They could have taken it to the next level.Vanity had a wild attitude that Apollonia never had.

to answer your question,I'm not sure if there is a tracklist for this album.I don't think that the album was ever completed. As far as I know, only three songs are circulating:

Vibrator

Sex Shooter

Wet Dream Cousin (a tentative title for this track, which is an instrumental)

It's possible that "G-Spot" was also considered for this album. On one of my bootleg tapes,as the song "Vibrator" ends,I can hear the beginning of "G-Spot" but then it cuts off abruptly.

Following the 1999 tour, Prince had started recording songs, including "Promise To Be True," "Vibrator," and "Sex Shooter," for an intended second Vanity 6 album. There were also numerous songs left over from sessions for their first album to choose from, including "I Need A Man," "Jealous Girl," "Moral Majority," "Pizza," and "Too Much." Prince had also recorded "No Call U" (known as "U Call Me" amongst fans) and "Extra Lovable" with Vanity singing lead. However, after participating in acting and singing sessions in preparation for Purple Rain, Vanity suddenly quit and left Prince's camp

so with that info in mind,I'm gonna come up with a tracklist of my own lol I'm gonna title the album 'Sex Shooter'...

Vanity 6 'Sex Shooter'

Side 1---

Sex Shooter

Vibrator

G-Spot

Side 2---

Moral Majority

Pizza

Promise To Be True

No Call U

G-Spot is a hard one to place

the original PR movie script has G-Spot + Electric Intercourse in the place of the Beautiful Ones performed by the Revolution

But I also thought there were some Jill Jones songs G-Spot & Wednesday/I Don't Know What I Would Do

Certainly 17 days , which still contains background vocals from Brenda Bennett : I wonder what her lead vocal would've sounded like on that track :

" He's All Black, He's All White, Everybody's Gotta Jam 2Nite, Limouzine ".
{ Brenda Bennett }

That would have been perfect thumbs up! It's a perfect example of the mid-80s Minneapolis Sound.I think that, when Apollonia came onboard,Prince removed some of the funky, racier songs and instead came up with a "poppier" sound for the girls. For example,"Manic Monday" was recorded for the Apollonia 6 album and "Take Me With U" was considered for their album,as well.

Vanity would have killed Manic Monday, she would have sauced it up

The 1993 Carmen Elektra song "Good Judy Girlfriend" was actually written and recorded in the early 80s for Vanity 6.

Vanity OWNED this song

as much as I enjoy the A6 album release

the V6 outtake blows it out the water

I need U 2 get me off
I'm your bomb, baby, ready 2 explode
I need U 2 get me off
Be your slave, do anything I'm told

CHORUS:
I'm a sex shooter
I'm shootin' love in your direction
I'm a sex shooter
Come and play with my affection
Come on, kiss the gun

I need U 2 pull my trigger, baby
I can't do it alone
I need U 2 be my main thing
Plaything, pillar of stone

CHORUS

Come on, kiss the gun
Guaranteed 4 fun

Sex shooter
I'm shootin' love in your direction
I'm a sex shooter
Come and play with my affection

Listen..
No girl's body can compete with mine
No girl's rap can top my lines
No girl's kiss can ring your chimes
Come on boy, let's make some time

I'm a sex shooter
Shootin' love in your direction
Oh yeah, oh I'm a sex shooter
Come and play with my affection
Come on, kiss the gun

Come on, kiss the gun, guaranteed 4 fun {x4}
Sex shooter {x4}
Blow me away

Come on, kiss the gun

No girl's body can compete with mine
No girl's rap can top my lines
No girl's kiss can ring your chimes
Come on boy, let's make some time

Come on, kiss the gun

Sex shooter
Shootin' love in your direction
I'm a sex shooter
Come and play with my affection

All the nasty people sing it
Sex shooter
Shootin' love in your direction
I can't hear U
Sex shooter
Come and play with my affection

All the nasty people sing it!
Sex shooter
Shootin' love in your direction
Everybody (Yeah)
Sex shooter
Come and play with my affection

Fellas, take it home, uh

Brenda? (Uh huh?)
I want U 2 count 2 8 (8)
As soon as I get undressed, clap your hands, OK? (OK)

Susan? (Uh huh?)
I want U 2 count 2 8 (8)
As soon as I get undressed, U clap your hands, OK? (OK)

New York? (Uh huh?)
I want U 2 count 2 8 (8)
As soon as I get undressed, y'all clap your hands, OK? (OK)

New York? (Uh huh?)
I want U 2 count 2 8 (8)
As soon as I get undressed, y'all clap your hands, OK? (OK)

(1) 1
(2) 2
(3) 3
(4) 4
(5) Sex shooter
(6) Sex shooter
(7) Sex shooter
(8) Clap your hands, let's go!

Apollonia 6.

I think some of you guys are getting stuff mixed up - Glamorous Life, Next Time Wipe The Lipstick, Take Me With U, 17 Days - these are A6 tracks.

Some of the unreleased Vanity 6 song titles you're mentioning pre-date the first album, not for the second projected album.

I don't think there really is a distinction between A6 and V6. In either case it was the girl group and without the fallout with Vanity there would never have been an A6. With that it mind many of Sheila's songs as well as others given away were written for a woman to sing. Many songs like 17 days Next Time, even Manic Monday would have fit in the context of Purple Rain.

Well, the distinction is (besides the obvious line up change) is the recording dates - Later sessions were for A6, earlier ones for V6. So AFAIK there's no notion of Vanity singing 'Happy Birthday Mr. Christian' like there is 'Sex Shooter'.

A nerdy distinction maybe, but I take my manufactured pop songs about malfunctioning vibrators and lecherous teachers seriously geek

I think that, when Vanity left, the focus changed.Prince knew that Apples couldn't sing the truly "nasty" stuff,so he started giving them clean, lightweight pop tunes like "Manic Monday" and "Take Me With U".If Vanity had stuck around,I bet we would have gotten stuff like "Vibrator" and probably another song that makes a reference to penis size lol There was no way that Apollonia could pull that off.

Right thumbs up!

Vanity was definately the focal point and muse for the project, so when she left the image softened and Prince's interest waned. That being said, the A6 album contains several of my favourite Prince tracks. The A6 album is less harsh sounding (less funky I guess too - V6 Sex Shooter is definately hotter), but is closer to the Revolution sound of the era.

Actually the A6 version of Sex Shooter feels like 'the Time' also has that mellow grow of Possessed

Blue Limousine is hard, comes out banging love the energey

I could see V6 doing

Blue Limousine,

Vibrator,

Manic Monday,

17 Days,

No Call U,

Take Me With U duet with Prince

A Million Miles

Sex Shooter

Sugar Walls

Vibrator

that would have been a hotxxx album,

I made a thread about this a year or two back, and we came up with some really interesting ones. The final track list was something like:

The Glamorous Life (this one was written for vanity, and the lyrics make sense for the PR movie)

Take me With U

17 Days

Ooo She She Waa Wa

Vibrator

GSpot

Manic Monday

Sex Shooter

No Call U

Noon Rendezvous (that's why it has the backwards beat from the PR scene)

Happy Birthday Mr. Christian

Some Kind of Lover

Obviously lots of Sheila E's album was originally inteneded for Vanity to sing, along with Manic Monday and 17days. It's up for debate but some people think that "Next time Wipe the Lipstick off your collar may have been intended for vanity to as well.

I still think that this album, with the purple rain movie/tour/marketing machine behind it would have been a GIGANTIC hit.

Vanity's version of Sex Shooter (although in ass quality) is still thought by most fans to be better then apollonias. That with the pre-packaged hit 'Manic Monday' would have been Vanity's first single that could have been played on both Adult and teen radio, as it lacked the dirtier edge and inapropreiate content of 'Nasty Girls.' 17 Days would have killed with Brenda and been a sleeper at parties and Dance Halls. With the band still together I think that Prince would have put a little more work into Ooo she she waa wa, a great song that's only crime is that it's actually 90 seconds long. A 4 min version of OSSWW (and possibly a different title) could have made that track the highlight of the whole album. Then Finally toast all that off with 'The Glamourous Life' and you have a hit album in anyones book.

So sad that Vanity couldn't have kept her addiction in check/stayed in the Prince camp a bit longer. If this album would have gotten out I think she could have taken a lot of the steam that Madonna ended up getting. In my mind a lot of the things Madonna did initially were things that Vanity did better. After the Purple Rain tour vanity could have re-negotiated her Prince contract/Struck out on her own.

It's sad in a way, as I feel that Vanity/Morris/Prince were such a great team, they just couldn't all keep their stuff together, and unlike a lot of people I think that V and M drug addcitions played a larger role then just Prince being a douche.

^^ I agree! I really wish that Vanity had stayed around for Purple Rain and a second Vanity 6 album.Like you said, that album would have been GIGANTIC! Her own solo albums pale in comparison to the stuff that Prince was writing for her.

Man I wish we could have heard a 2nd Vanity 6 album with these tracks! lol I'm sure they would have had some major hits. I'm still hoping 1 of these days more tracks from the V6 sessions are leaked online drool...

Anyway, I really just think it was a combo of things as to why Vanity left...Her addiction was 1, but Prince's behavior was certainly a big factor-he was a womanizer, controlling and he wanted to be the biggest star. Vanity didn't want to put up with any of that-she showed him she could be a "manizer" lol, that he couldn't control her, and that she had her own career aspirations. As much as we hear about Vanity loving Prince, I'm sure there's no doubt she also used him to jumpstart her own career. The mix of personal and business led to Vanity and Prince falling out IMO.
