That'll be cool. I will go next year if it happens. Besides, I benefited from the AHA funding when I had open heart surgery as kid. So grateful....will definitely give back....

They came from as far away as Spain and new Zealand, from Portland, Ore., and Roanoke, Va., just to see a reunion of Prince & the Revolution at First Avenue in downtown Minneapolis. That's where the 1984 movie "Purple Rain," which catapulted Prince into international stardom, was famously filmed.

About 1,500 Prince fanatics descended on First Av Sunday for the first reunion by Prince's Purple Rain band since the group disbanded in late 1986.

"This could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said Gene Whitehead, 39, an environmental engineer from Washington, D.C.

Although the Revolution reunited for a cameo appearance in 2003 at a benefit organized by Sheila E, this was the first true reunion. It was organized by revolution drummer Bobby Z to commemorate his recovery from a near-fatal heart attack in February 2011.

The concert featured Wendy & Lisa, Dr. Fink, Brownmark, Dez Dickerson, Eric Leeds, and, of course, Z.

Sunday's concert also included some education from the American Heart Association. "This is so different from whatever we've done before," said Barb Ducharme, the association's senior director of community health. "This has made the American Heart Association cool."

Does it strike anyone as odd that Larry Graham showed up but not prince? Why didn't they ask him to sing "Purple Rain"?

I kind of feel the whole thing was a publicity stunt to get people to come out. I mean, an extra mic, the cloud guitar onstage, and Larry Graham being there...the whole thing is really, really awkward to me.

I may be in the minority here, but I kind of feel that The Revolution isn't The Revolution without Prince.

But, I'm glad Bobby Z is okay.

Bobby Z did a wonderful thing putting this event together. But if Prince had gotten onboard from the beginning it could have been so much more. Prince & The Revolution: Live - One Night Only! They could have sold out the Target Center and made thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars for a worthy cause. Throw in a live DVD or downloadable album and you could have pushed those numbers even higher.

You're not privy to what he's donated to this cause on behalf of Bobby though, right? And also no one really knows what type of reasons he had for not making an appearance. Sometimes we on the org need to recognize our assumptions for what they are.

I wished that I went there. Prince or not I am sure it would had been a great show.

I would love to see Andre there too. But Dez look very good.

I notice Lisa sits down on a stool and I notice she sits down a stool in the recent years she performed on stage. I know she said while on her twitter page she had made trip or two to the doctor as she have some back problems. I hope she is doing well.

Wendy looks great and is born to be a bandleader. My prayers are going out toward her father I read off some other board he is doing very bad right now. She somehow throw a slight shade at Prince during Star Tribute interview that Prince doesnt have feelings about anything and Lisa stood up for Prince that he was emotional when Bobby was sicked last year.

I read on Startribute Bobby's heart stop twice. Oh my god. I am glad he is here and I am blessed that he is doing fine.

I didnt expected Prince to be there but I wish he get his act together and get this Revolution reunion going as the bandmembers are getting older and God forbid but we dont know what they are 10 years from now healthwise. We already almost lost Bobby who played intregal part of Prince's history. But again even though it was a letdown he didnt appear on stage but thats Prince and how he is, you cant make someone do something if they dont want to do it.

Prince loves playing with people's minds, so personally think he was actually there in the crowd, probably egging people on about whether or not "Prince" was going to arrive. It sounds like something he would do.

I really don't care for all the delusional replies to this post I'm going to get about how it's up to Prince, or how dare we, the fans, or anyone for that matter, should "assume" Prince was going to perform. Your blind baby. Prince lost me after this stunt.- and yes, this was absolutely a stunt. This was disgraceful to Bobby and the entire band and the fans who were led like sheep. If it weren't for my respect for members of Revolution, I would read Prince out on all the unethical, crooked, downright awful things he's done to these people behind closed doors that would make everyone on here cringe. Shame on U, Mr. Nelson. I'm callin' the truth on this and tellin' it like it is, no more sugarcoating. Damn.

Yeah I have to admit it was a letdown a bit that Prince didn't show up but I wasnt fool or was to believe he was going to show up since even the bandmembers Bobby Z and Wendy reportedly said and Lisa via twitter that Prince is invite on stage but wasn't expected to be performed. Prince is just being Prince. But I sincerely hope that he can at least reunite with the Revolution while they are still active and all are still kicking now.

I'm sick of the sense of entittlement that Prince fans have.

I just got back. ?uestlove was still DJing when I left but all the equipment was gone. I'd like to thank all the members of the Revolution and everyone else who worked to make this happen. It was an amazing, terrific, unforgettable concert. It gave me chills to see Wendy up there leading the group, and I also particularly enjoyed seeing the interaction between her and Dez. Unfortunately I didn't always have such a great view, so I hope the rumored DVD does actually come out.

As for Prince, what can you say? I assumed he wouldn't come until rumors started flying a few days ago that he might be here. All I can say is that if I were in Prince's current touring band, and I watched that concert, I would be nervous about my job security right now. Prince may not want to play with the Revolution for whatever reason, but if I had a choice between seeing another Revolution concert tomorrow and seeing Prince with his current flunkies, I'd defintely go see the Revolution. So there.
