Does anybody know what's up with the CD re-release of Andre Cymone's A.C.

Like many here, my order back in August was delayed, but, I got it.

However, a friend of mine has been looking for it and it seems it's already unavailable... at least here in the states. He finally had to order a copy from overseas (Amazon.uk).

Did they not make enough? Is something else going on? Why is it already so hard to get only a few months after the release?!?

I'll suggest this to him. I could have done that myself instead of asking here, but, I thought I might get a quicker answer here and/or inform others that there may be an issue with the release.

A couple of weeks ago I ordered it for a friend from Amazon U.K. Price with the slowest shipping method was about $16 (U.S. dollars) with tax. Arrived in a week. Fantastic.

Ridiculous that it became immediately unavailable in the US, but is/was so readily available in the UK.

BTW, and I'm sure many of you already know this, Amazon UK is an amazing and fun site and you can find a LOT of stuff that you can't on Amazon US. The Wendy and Lisa stuff still available alone was impressive. All sorts of artists over the years have had albums, singles, compliations that were only released in the UK, and it's just a lot of fun to look around and see what you can find.

Exchange rate isn't bad at all and shipping is reasonable if the order isn't too bulky and non-express mail is selected. And, you can use your existing Amazon account. Don't have to reregister with Amazon UK.

Just looked at the Amazon UK site. Looks like it's still available for 7.83 British pounds, about $12.57 before tax and shipping. [Someone correct me if my conversion is wrong.]

I'd still encourage those interested to order ASAP from Amazon UK, even though it is readily available and cheap right now. It could eventually sell out there as well.

Man, I'm glad I got mine right when it came out...

This all seems strange to me for a new release.

I guess it's a small label and demand may have been greater than they anticipated,

but, it just seems so unlikely to me.

...it's like a conspiracy, or, something...

Seriously, though, it is an unusual situation.

Maybe someone will follow getxxxx's suggestion and get us an official explanation.

In the meantime, it's good to know that anyone that missed out can still get it imported affordably.

By all accounts, the advertised track list is erroneous. Since the "Long" version of Dance Electric is the LP version anyway (it has a shorter timing noted on the 12", but that was incorrect), it makes sense that there would be some inconsistencies between the announcement and the delivered product.

and, Thanks for your opinion on the inconsistencies with A.C.! It makes sense, but it doesn't explain why they still list the "announced" but not final track list at Amazon.

I bought a copy of the CD and it has 13 tracks. A little birdie told me that this CD may be reissued by a different company as a 2CD set. We'll see...
