honestly??

im not trolling or anything(im not sure what trolling means !)

but im racking my brains....you really mean that??!!!

Bobby z and the revolution?

brown mark and the revolution...i dont get it

This may come as a shock to you,but there's more to life than Prince wink These are all talented musicians in their own right, and they know how to play all of those classic songs. In many cases, they were a part of the creation of those songs (along with Prince).

i'd love to see and hear the old tunes played by people who have love for them. prince treats his back catalogue with casual indifference in one breath then plays the shit out of them live.

don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

They used the name 8 years ago for the Family Jam show back in LA that Sheila put together.. I don't think he's going to deny them the use of the name for a performance.. It's not like they're trying to record under the name, in any event i saw them without Prince 8 years ago and I had a great time and enjpyed Wendy fronting the group..I also saw them several times with Prince and if i can get enough of the nyc crew together i think i might like to go MPLS

Reunions are about nostalgia, that's the whole point of those things. Not about creating new music and that's why I don't care much for it. I saw Bootsy Collins with the original James Brown band a couple of years ago. Fantastic band, but I was disappointed anyway because they were trying to recreate the past with a new singer pretending to be James.
So the FamilyRevolutionTime all good musicians, no problem there. But what I do not understand is that some here are making it seem as if these reunions "prove" that these musicians are "better" than Prince.
If the Revolution plays Purple Rain, they go wow, it's fantastic!
If Prince plays Purple Rain, they complain about him being a boring greatest hits act.
Does that make sense? Not to me! nuts
Having said that, I wish everyone who goes a great time! thumbs up!

Who is holding onto the purple? One reunion with band mates hardly makes it that. Ever think they might have fun geting together and playing an raising money for a worthwhile cause?

Prince plays this shit non-stop for the past 25 years - Yeah Prince & The Revolution reunion, wooooh! It's just Prince with another backing band, it's the Prince show. I'm more interested to see these guys play together than sit behind Prince again. Wendy fronting the group works just swell for me. I could even dig them recording something together 'band formely known as' style.

That's just musically speaking, I'm sure the benefit would raise more money if his royal sourpuss was there to boost ticket sales.

I have been saying this for a long time. Even if the guys are just the house band on the next Wendy & Lisa album, I'd gladly welcome that.

Anyone know what is the best chance to get tickets? Online, phone, etc? Or am I wrong in assuming this will quickly sell out.

Don't live in MN, but am from MN, so I could go see my family and take in the Revolution while I'm at it.

It's not on the First Avenue website yet either. Good news is that it's on President Day weekend so it's a 3 day weekend for a lot of people.

From the Minneapolis Star and Tribunehttp://www.startribune.co...03383.html:

Drummer Bobby Z is bringing the "Purple Rain"-era Revolutionback to First Avenue. The Feb. 19 concert will be a benefit for heart-health awareness and the American Heart Association.

"I was trying to think of something to do around the anniversary date of my heart attack," said Z, who suffered a near-fatal attack Jan. 30 and was hospitalized for several weeks. "In my new consciousness, I said, 'What's the biggest thing I could do?' Prince and the Revolution. The second biggest thing is the Revolution."

So Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Dr. Fink and Brown Mark will join Z for what he describes as a relaxed evening. "There'll be a lot of music and stories," the drummer said, "and some education about heart disease." Will there be Prince? "He's been supportive," said Z, Prince's drummer from 1978 to '86. "He didn't say 'Yeah' or 'Nay.' His world tour continues. He's like Bob Dylan and James Taylor; he plays all the time."

Saxophonist Eric Leeds, a longtime Prince sideman, will be the Revolution's special guest. The only other Revolution reunion performance was in 2003 for a benefit staged by Sheila E in Los Angeles. "Wendy fronted it," Z explained of the lead singer. "She's fantastic. We did six, seven, eight songs. It was a variety show with 100 acts. This will be an intimate evening with Wendy & Lisa, Dr. Fink, Brown Mark and Bobby Z -- the Revolution."

Tickets will go on sale Nov. 21. Information will be available atwww.first-avenue.com.

Prince wasn't in The Family.

Anywho, this is something I'm looking forward to and I plan to be there. I'm a Prince but I am also a W&L and I haven't seen them perform in 21 years.

If it's not for you, why come and shit on everyone else's happiness?

While everyone in the band is still around I hope a professional camera crew and a good director is there to capture this event for posterity and hopefully a documentary. This band and the people behind it deserve all the praise and appreciation they get.

As a fan I think story deserves to be told. It would make a great DVD with all profit going to a great cause.
