I wish I was feeling the new CD like everyone else. I'm just not feeling any of it at all.
I suggest to those who aren't feeling this album that they have a jaded palate. I just came back to "re-discovering" Prince and the Minneapolis sound in 2009 after being out of the mix for at least fifteen years. To my ears, this album is the bomb.

I played the cd for my oldest son today and he loved it.
I swear, this is the best thing since sliced bread all the love the fellas are getting is well deserved. I always knew they could throw down like this and dammit, Jesse is killing me!!!
Good to see orgers mostly agreeing about something too.
I never got the chance to see them with Jam and Lewis and all the original members, so I'm extremely excited for the tour.
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Same here--I never got to see the original Time. The fact that they have re-incarnated themselves as O7 without Prince and have done so well makes me want to see them like sin. I haven't wanted to see a band perform so badly in a looooooooong time. I saw Morris Day & half-time, but that can't compare to seeing the Original Seven in new time!

Amen! I hope they will be releasing new albums for years to come!

Prince semi-protege Sue Ann Carwell does BG vocals on a couple of tracks, according to the liner notes. Anyone else catch that?
Yes, I did! After I listened to Stawberry Lake, I thought--where have I heard this voice before? So, I looked at the liner notes today when I heard it and saw that Sue Ann Carwell did the female vocals. Glad to hear her again. She sounds great on this album!

I've been meaning to ask, who dat?
I don't really know much about her, other than that there's a version of "Make It Through The Storm" from her that's circulating.

Sue Ann goes way back. I have her Blue Velvet album from the 80s for which Jesse produced half of the tracks:
In a recent Billboard interview,Jimmy Jam said that they have a major tour planned for 2012.They will play some festivals and will co-headline with another major band. They didn't name any names, but I'd love to see them on a bill with a band like Midnight Star,Cameo or Earth Wind & Fire.
No offense to those othe bands but O7ven is lookin for something bigger than what those are doin now. Morris Days version could do that, but with a new album they lookin for someting major. I could see them wit Janet. Depending on how well the album does is how big o a tour they will do.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. EWF, Cameo, and Midnight Star haven't released shit in YEARS and are just really doing the oldies circuit. The Original 7ven are trying to push new product and as you said, looking for something bigger than that. I heard the word "festivals" hen I first read that interview and the first thing that came to my mind was the fuckin' county fairs Half-Time ends up doing. But, there are a few MAJOR national and int'l festivals around these days that they could burn the stage up on.
I think you're being rather kind with your compliments of Prince's albums since 3121.
But, your quote that I bolded is funny as shit...and oh so true!! I really hope they push, push, PUSH this album and have a really good tour behind it too. And, I'm not talking about the Garrett County Fair or some similar shit to that. I'm talking 1,500-seat venues and shit like that.
As far as Beth's concerned, I hope you know what her version of being faithful is, but it ain't her fault. Cuz, she's due down here in Baltimore this week!
yes i was kind in saying what planet earth and 20ten really are but u know i don't won't 2 rile up these nice people today but if i can paraphrase from morris about bobby z..on planet earth's and 20tens best day they can't fuck with condensate!
yeah 1500 seaters would be a nice thang 4 sho
as for beth, well u know her shit is sick!
Yount to that!!!
Oh, I moved on from Beth. You got my sloppy seconds now. I've moved on to Nattie!!

yeah, that rarely happens on this site It's nice to see.
It'd be nice, but for some reason, I don't think he will (try to outdo them). If Prince was bored before because he felt there was no one to "challenge" him, then I'm hoping this provides that for him!! 20Ten and MPLSound were really God-awful, with only a couple of tunes I'd ever consider playing again!
I really like a lot of MPLSound and LotusFlow3r, but I cannot take any track on 20Ten. It all sounds like incomplete ideas.
I like a few songs on '20Ten' but for the most part,I think Prince is on Autopilot these days.He needs something (or someone) to inspire him again....to help him get out of his sheltered Paisley Park world.Condensate is fun, catchy and funky....with a cool party vibe throughout. These guys had alot of fun making this album, you can tell.I don't hear this kinda 'fun' in Prince's recent music.

Ah-ha! I wondered who it was. Glad it's someone in the loop and not some random bit of fluff.

You must not have liked the Time to beging with then.

Amen to that. Got my money saved up for a VIP pass to see them. It will definately be worth it!
What songs would you guys pick as the singles? Let's assume that there will be two more singles after "Trendin",what would you pick?
"If I Was Yo Man" sounds like the logical second single.
I would pick "Lifestyle" as the third single. It's got a contemporary sound that will easily appeal to R&B audiences who listen to stuff like R.Kelly.
i would like 2 say sick should be released or hey yo just 4 the contemporary feel alone
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
but you know what? The more I listen to "Faithful",the more I think that it should be a single. That song is brilliant!!
Agreed!! It proves that Jam and Lewis still got it. Janet needs to call them up, stat!
yep and the minute she would say "jimmy let's call up so and so producer" they look at her and say 'GIRL U MUST BE SICK they ain't got the chili sauce and u need 2 stop dating gremlins and having them ruin ur music"

Maybe its me but I swear I've heard the choruses to "Hey Yo" and Lifestyle before in another song, or maybe its a mixture of past hip hop r&B songs.
2 me hey yo kind of sounds like something nelly has done b4 but i don't care i love that song
