Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis were on the Tom Joyner show this morning. Here are the URLs:

Pt. 2: http://v3.player.abacast....diainc.asx

They really went in on ol' boy Prince, in a joking manner of course. lol

[Edited 10/18/11 20:38pm]

What a let down the interview was! The first segment barely had Jam and Lewis at all. It was all Tom Joyner and crew clownin'. If you've got access to Jimmy and Terry, talk them up! You can clown later. Nice that they played a lot of segments from the album in part 2, but still... talk them up! Don't leave them hangin'.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

I thought it was interested that theyused some of Jesse's solo music behind one of his segments. That DVD is well done enough to have been packaged seperately and sold over the net or something.

yep. Only hangs with his "yes" people and current bandmembers at best. Otherwise he'd have something to talk about in his music.

Really enjoyed the DVD. Great stories. Didn't know the one about Morris moving away from MN. before The Time was formed.

Wish they would have included the video for Trendin, one catchy song..."they talkin' about me..."

Haven't listened to the whole CD yet, but it sounds good.

30 years and the original 7ven can't beat that! Can any band??

I finally stopped playing the cd long enough to watch the dvd and I gotta tell ya, it's a fan's dream. cool

They tell the back-story behind the tours, the music, their youth, their influences, their kinship and the making of Condensate. No fronting or posing...just a bunch of down to earth dudes kickin' it. I'm so happy for them and glad that they sat down to give us this gem. I laughed out loud several times. The MLK III story is priceless! lol

They are obviously thrilled to be reunited, presenting some of their best work and it shows. The enthusiasm is contagious and it makes you feel like hanging with them would be hella fun.

Is the CD/DVD package a limited thing?

Yes..

Yeah but I don't see Best Buy running out of it anytime soon. I could be really off.

Heard the album yesteday. Excellent. Watched the documentary today, and I really enjoyed it. I will definately watch it again. I have made it a habit to start avoiding deluxe editions with extra DVDs since I never watch them. Well I watched this and for the price, it would be foolish not to get it at Best Buy. Even if you are not in the US and have to wait a little bit/pay a few dollars more on Ebay, it's worth it!

This is a talented group, with lots of history. This DVD is worth every penny even if it was sold by itself. I loved the background stories. I'm so glad that I own it. I will be watching it again, and soon. The guys were very candid. They each have their own individual personalities. I enjoyed all of it except for Rihanna's bad singing at the Grammy's. lol

i never liked that performance with rhianna but i remember that years grammy's were all about hooking up the greats with the current flavor of the day and it just sucked ass!

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

if any other international folks need a copy, let me know. i just sent one to the uk via usps and it cost $29.95 for shipping (comes with tracking number) or you can do it without a tracking number which is cheaper (i think it was $13.95). i believe it will get there in 3-5 days. i would rather get cds to ship now while it's still on sale at best buy. the sale ends tomorrow (saturday). i'm not making any money off this. you just pay for the disc+tax+postage. i can do via ebay as a buy it now for $10.86 (disc+tax) + postage if you want.

Is that why it took over 20 years for fans to get a proper studio album?lol

Oh well, it would have been nice to hear a little acknowledgement of what Prince has meant to all of their careers. They thoroughly address all of the negative things from their Prince association. Morris seems to still have a problem with Prince and sounded like he didnt like how Jesse launched his solo career. And whose Grammy awards is he sitting in front of - he never got one. Maybe those are Jam and Lewis' trophies.

Even if that is true, i think it is more of a reesult of the quality of all the other albums of the year than anything else. I think about 4 of the tracks simply arent that good and if they were left out, it would be a much better album. my opinion. What Time Is It? is still the best Time album for my money;-)

They acknowledge Prince on the CD. I don't think they have to do that at every turn. Besides, Jam & Lewis were obviously being hindered by Prince, who tried to prevent them from doing outside production.

Valley girl talks about The Original 7ven. smile

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
