The Original 7ven documentary

From The Grammy Museum:

The GRAMMY Museum is proud to debut the intriguing new documentaryThe Original 7ven in the Clive Davis Theater. Chronicling the adventures of seven young musicians; Morris Day, Jesse Johnson, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Jellybean Johnson, Monte Moir, and Jerome Benton, the 80-minute film illustrates how the group came together in the early 80's and eventually rewrote music history. Required viewing for any fan of the Minneapolis Sound, the documentary is an up-close-and-personal portrait of life as told by the band members themselves. Their new album, Condensate, will be released the same day. After the screening, a group of panelists involved with the production, including the entire band, will be available to take audience questions.

Thanks. The documentary will be included on DVD with the deluxe edition of Condencate at BestBuy...although, according to BestBuy.com the DVD is only 30-minutes rather than 80...I hope they're wrong.

What a horrible name for the group. Could not they come up with something better than that? Peope are not even going to know who they are unless they actually see them before they see that name on the bill ot CD.

On the cover it says "The Band Formerly Known As the Time". Plus, with their picture on it, how could you NOT know what time it is??? I personally think they should have said "The ARTISTS Formerly Known As The Time". Hey...a play on words!!!!!

Thank Prince 4 that!!!!!!

cool cool cool cool cool cool cool

Such as Toad The Wet Sprocket or Hootie And The Blowfish? lol

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I, personally, don't give a crap about new names--I'm happy we're getting new music under any name. They will still remain The Time, to me. wink

The name sucks, so did FDeluxe. It doesn't matter. They got an album out, that's the most important thing.

Oh well.....I'm glad the music is coming!!!!

The Time now The Original 7ven, on Leno October 27, tour dates

By April MacIntyre Oct 13, 2011, 18:06 GMT

The Original 7ven (the band formerly known as The Time) will debut their new funk-fueled hit, “#Trendin,” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on October 27th.

The performance - their first television appearance as the Original 7ven – comes just a week after their album, Condensate, is released on October 17th

A tour and promotional appearances include a show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on October 19th, the theatrical debut of their documentary at the Grammy Museum on October 18th, interviews on CNN, the Tom Joyner Show, Yahoo! Music, Vibe magazine’s Lifestyle Network, in USA Today and many more.

In early December, the Original 7ven will spend a “Takeover Weekend” at BET’s Centric network, with videos, special programming and exclusive interviews devoted to the music and the history of the band. Centric reaches over 44 million homes nationwide.

The new album marks the first time the seven musicians have recorded together in over 21 years. Morris Day, Jesse Johnson, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Jellybean Johnson, Jerome Benton and Monte Moir deliver exciting funk/rock/pop that drove the launch of the Minneapolis Sound, infused with a new energy and power. Irrepressible front man Morris Day captivates and entertains like no other against a backdrop of musical talent that few can match. The first single off the album, “#Trendin,” is already a hit at radio stations nationwide and is the #1 most added song at the Urban Adult Radio format in its first week out.

After their two-week promotional run on the West Coast, the Original 7ven will travel to their hometown of Minneapolis for a special “homecoming” concert, before heading to New York for a number of additional appearances to be announced in the coming weeks. Details will be posted on www.TheOriginal7ven.com.
