Wow, here we go again. It gets way too obsessive when fans think they can dictate who should leave Prince's band. We're fans, not his slavemasters. If Prince was dissatisfied with ShelbyJ, then he would be the one, not us, to decide if she should go or stay. It's obvious they are friends off and on the stage and it does not go unnoticed the respect he shows for her, as a woman and an artist.
This society is so conditioned and caught up on looks, often times, people base an individual's talent, validity of their existence on it, as well as what level of respect an individual deserves or how they will be treated, because of it. A sick society we live in at times. It's a shame though, because I'm sure many of you don't have children, sisters, brothers, mothers and fathers whose looks you consider on the level of "gorgeous" or "beautiful" or have been blessed with Shelby J's talent.
I bet some fans would not appreciate anyone bashing their daughter or son with so much hate and envy. What's up with starting a "hate" thread specifically for someone you have never met personally? ShelbyJ doesn't have to answer to you for her existence or validate it through you.
Yes, of course you are entitled to your opinions of her, and you don't have to like any artist's singing style, but the ridiculous "hate" threads about her, makes absolutely no sense, and are a bit crazy. As fans, we don't get to choose, and never will have the power or option in deciding which bandmember Prince should keep or kick out of his band or who should be his personal friends. When you become the leader of his band, and the boss of his life, which will never happen...then you will have the option of making those choices.
Peace. [Edited 7/9/11 16:27pm]

Did we really need another one of these threads?
Having gotten the chance to very briefly speak with Shelby after one of the NY concerts, I thought she was lovely and gracious.
I have no idea how or why people could really have so much hate for a backup singer with a great voice.

Seems like 50% of people hate Shelby, & arent at all impressed with Andy
I could care-less about either, neither catch my eye. Although Shelby is a great singer, I would never dig her on stage with P, she should just go solo that would be cool & Andy is pretty but not much else. This whole band is whatever, this whole era is possibly whatever

I hate that bald head but the bitch serves on the stage! she has such a nice strong voice
Only reason people don't like her is because she's not a typical beauty.

Does sound like one of the main reasons some of these fans are complaining, based on their so-called, standard of societal beauty. I bet some even think that by publically bashing one of his bandmembers on a fan site or saying they didn't go to one of his shows, because they have some strange dislike for a bandmember's looks, that somehow Prince will stop everything for them, and "get rid" of said bandmember(s).Now you know that's not going to happen.
Constructive criticism of an artist's singing/performing style is one thing, but expressing unnecessary"hatred" towards them, because they don't look like a fan wants them to, completely falls on a level of "nuttiness." Just because we're admirers of a musician's music, doesn't mean we have the privilege of choosing who he should have in his band.
The fantastic chemistry between Prince and Shelby J when they perform on stage and sing duets, is clearly visible. Those who convince themselves they don't see it that way, is obviously out of intentional envy. They'll just have to..well.."get over it." [Edited 7/10/11 7:13am]
