Slow down before you claim who is right, wrong, who is a fault, how come she had to pay, he this or that, she should have to pay, etc.

Just slow the claim, the whole story is not as u think.

Yes but even with being an ex, unless you two HATE one another (and it doesn't seem that they do) the two of you shared something special and he should let her in free. See my problem with this issue is 1.) Dave is saying it is not about money, it is about respect..If it were it indeed about respect, Mayte would have NEVER posted on facebook or Twitter 2.) If Mayte really wanted to see Prince perform, JUST PAY!!! 3.) Prince and Mayte are not friends, so if he does not want to give her a free ticket, he doesn't have to; regardless of their past relationship. THEY are not friends, like he & Sheila E. After reading the bashing that Prince is getting to Mayte's post , I'm surprised that Prince has any friends, fans, or family or anyone going to his concerts the way people constantly dog him for every little single thing that he does.

i think maybe it wasn't just that she asked to go see the concert, i think she was asking to see him. you know be back stage and see him. if it was me, i would feel really hurt by being told i had to pay to see a man i shared a bed, marriage and baby with. it just comes off so rude and cruel.

I'm not sure what to think about this, but my first thought was 'if he was really asked, he probably did his joking around thing of 'sure, but she's got to pay like everyone else' bit. Then whoever the messenger was, took it seriously and passed it on.

Then again, we do hear from other entertainers and friends, that they've had to buy their own tickets...Prince isn't the only one getting paid and it's not cheap to do these gigs. Maybe all their comp tix were gone by that time too, who knows?

But, my emotional female side thinks, if he was being a jerk about it, then he needs to knock it off...she's the mother of his child.

I just now read the post from LOVEVERY1 and wondered if it's already been established that this is someone from Prince's camp, since they're posting the concert threads and other information. Did I miss something? So we know whether they are passing on true info; LOVEVERY1 are you connected in some way?

Co-sign I am sure she got a settlement or is getting an alimony payment so why would she get to go to show for free. In addtion, she could have gone to one of the 25.00 shows if she is so hard up for money. It has long been known that P is not into giving out too many freebies. My understanding is that Celebraties have to pay for there tickets.

Why would you assume or doubt that some celebrities don't have to pay to go to any of his shows, because quite frankly, that could go either way--some probably do, and some probably don't. Especially when there's expenses to be paid, like bandmembers/techs, and other expenses/fees.

Doing the Musicology show in Philadelphia. Patti Labelle was pulled up on the stage to perform with Prince. I had the bootleg video of this performance. I saw an interview with Patti were she mentioned she paid for a ticket to the show. She was out in the audience just like the rest of the fans.

It has also been mentioned on this board that bandmembers do not get free tickets to give to family members. So I am under the impression that P is not big on freebies.

Basically being a celebrity doesn't mean being invited everywhere per se. U have to be invited by someone.

I mean do all these celebrities who attend Prince's concerts consult with Dave & Mayte? just curious? I know I am being a little sarcastic..but if he is 100% sure, he has to have some confirmation

Hey, no problem and I don't find your comment sarcastic at all. You're just expressing your opinion. Like I said, maybe some do and some don't. We just don't know to the point we can say on a general basis, that "Celebs" don't pay to attend artists' concerts, unless there was some hard evidence to back that up. I would rather be open to the belief, that some do and some don't, but that's just my opinion. I think it may also depend on how close a celeb may be in friendship to a musician/artist or the fact that the celeb(s), would pay anyway to support the concert of that artist, despite the status of theiir friendship.

Anyway, according to the updated post of the OP on the first page, it seems Mayte clarified her first FB comment.
