Mayte post on fb about Prince charging her to see him play (now updated with new post by her)

I am really surprised there is no topic here yet about Mayte's fb status from 3 hours ago:

Wow! I got "approved" to go see my ex-husband play but was told I have to pay!!! won't get into details... But I'm told I have to pay!????

Many Prince fans seem to be surprised, I am not I must say....

BTW I am not stalking her or anything. I am not friends with her on fb, I just read it because some of my fb friends are friends with her there, so I had it with my updates from one of my friends.....

And her post after a lot of comments by her fb friends:

everyone don't hate him as an artist. This is my Facebook page to comment on things in my life. I commented that I was asked to pay. In a respect thing, I think it's disrespectful. Everyone has their views and things to say. Yes there are 2... sides but it's an issue of respect. That's all. Nothing else . Btw, I'm not going. Lets all go back to enjoying the music. And if you like him as a person ...so be it. I'm not saying anything bad. Just commented on what was said to me.

The "approved" bit sounds right, I can imagine that.

Of course, she could always buy a ticket the regular way like the great unwashed, then approval wouldn't be needed?

lol

I dont know why these women use FB as an outlet to get support for their hurt feelings. Besides, dont they know better by now? Prince does these things.

Those matters really are private. If it upset her that much, she should write a book about it.

Im sure we will all see Mayte at one of the last concerts this weekend. bored

I just don't understand why as an ex she would feel that he should pay her way to see him.

Really??? You are an ex. After all this time he owes her nothing.

If I was giving concerts I would never charge my ex, that's just crazy and disrespectful. And she is not just one of his many exes, she is his former wife who he considered his soulmate and she also was the mother of his child.

Wow. Does he really need to belittle her that bad? He can't even send her a ticket with a friendly note? Is he still angry with her?

If I would have a grocery store, I wouldn't give a way all my vegetables either.

However, I would give some apples and oranges to friends, relatives and relations. That's how it works. Because they also would give me what I need, when the occassion arises. It's give and take. shrug

Maybe he feels everybody just wants to take from him. Maybe he doesn't feel that he's given a lot? I don't know. Only P knows his version on this story. I'm glad he never reacts to these kind of fb comments or whatever. It's no use anyways.

Yeah of course as a multi-millionaire he cannot afford to invite her shrug.

Why is he supposed to feel compelled to reach out to an ex? It's so bizarre that some of you ascribe your own feelings onto him. Their breakup was not amicable. Everyone knows how ugly it got. Why the hell should he feel so benevolent? It's laughable that so many of you put these people through your own filters yet if you were in the same spot, it's likely you would act the same way.

It's replacing yourself in that situation and imagine why and how I would react. It's just a mind exercise of perception and relating. I don't ascribe my own feelings to him.

And wondering if you were in the same spot, would I act the same way?

It's hypothetical, not personal.

You know what.

If my exes want copies of my upcoming book or want to attend one of my future art exhibits, those bitches are paying too. lol

Why does Prince owe Mayte anything?

I'm sure she got a good divorce settlement.

Often with time, something that was not amicable cools down and benevolence can set in. What I find strange is why not contact the person directly instead of going through channels (which was implied) to be 'approved'...then there would be no need to write about it on facebook.

Probably just a misunderstanding of some sort..

.Seems though she has been thinking about the whole subject this past week or so because there is a twitter link and there were comments about her ex even before this (general)..

I wonder if he will rescind her approval now that she's complained about it on Facebook.

Often, but not always. And equally as often, aborted or otherwise deceased children destroy marriages because of the true ugliness and insecurities which are revealed.

As has been a common theme in Prince's life, when he divorces you - you are done. And in the case of Mayte, he didn't even divorce her. He simply erased her.

To think he would somehow bequeath her more money on top of the money he's already given her is just... Well, let's be real with ourselves. That's not gonna happen and it probably shouldn't.

Yes but even with being an ex, unless you two HATE one another (and it doesn't seem that they do) the two of you shared something special and he should let her in free. I'm telling you right now, I KNOW for a fact if my husband and I divorced right now and he put on a concert in ten years,he would NEVER make me pay. That's just the kind of guy he is .

It's not about the money. It's about validating and aknowledging the past.

However, Mayte putting it up there on fb, says it all. That shows her behaviour and how mature she is about P. Not mature at all.

The whole issues just shows that it's probably a good thing they broke up shrug

I don't think my wife would appreciate it if I was putting on some kind of performance and I gave a free ticket to an ex.

And its not like this is the first time she's posted about him before. She's made snide remarks here and there. She owes him nothing. People are soooo stuck on their morality high horse.

He owes her nothing. She got the house in Spain and he probably is still paying her.

What a prick! He should have sent her primo tickets.

I will give him the benefit that by "approved" she means she asked out of politeness and he said yes. But she could have just bought tickets.

But really prince give the mother of your son some good tickets.

Call me crazy but I suspect seeing the picture of Prince and Misty and/or Prince & Bria have probably set off a bit of jealousy or regret for Mayte. Otherwise, why else would she try to get his attention like this? I've never worked in the entertainment industry but it seems like there are always issues with "hangers on" and the like and I guess famous folks have to be mindful of that. I don't think I'd appreciate someone putting that out on faceCrook that I charged them for the show. I mean come on Mayte you went to hundreds of shows with the man!

Who knows maybe he doesn't want her to try to come back into his life at this point. Anyone know if they even spoken to each other over the past few years? (since 2006 or so)

Yes, it was mentioned in the concerts forum. I don't see the big deal. She was at his show the opening weekend of the 3121 club in Vegas and he showed her much respect, so this won't be the first time she's attended one of his shows. Who knows how it turned out, maybe she ended up not having to pay for this one after all. Guess you guys who are on her page just have to wait for her response, as to whether she ended up going or not, and not speculate.
